DC TEASE - WHAT THE?

DC has released what appears to be a teaser image with no information attached other than the subject line of an e-mail: "Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction..."

Which obviously accounts for the weepy Superman, but not really someone wearing the Red Robin costume from Kingdom Come, or the dashing, pantsuit Batman (from an Elseworlds, perhaps, or freshly back from a relaxing desert trip where he found himself?)

Oh - and bodies, bodies, bodies...Max Lord, Beetle, Jade, and The Question...?

Click for a larger version.

Any other clues that can be picked out by Newsarama readers?

The Question is dead in that pic.

Donna Troy is back in her classic red Wonder Girl costume (alongside her "boyfriend (?)" Ion).

And the artist is, if I'm not mistaken, Phil Jimenez.

Hmmmmm...

EDIT:

Hmmm---Kingdom Come characters mixed in with characters long-dead (or just died?). I'm thinking this tease relates to the long-rumored return of the Multiverse.

Who's ready for the return of Earth 2? And 3 and S and X and.....

I guess we know for sure now that the Question's toast.

Well, as much toast as he can be, considering all of the dead are gonna live again soon.

I'm not a big enough DC-guy to make many educated guesses - but that Batman is fantastic.

either something to do with WWIII and/or the ending of 52 - maybe the mulitverse's variants of our heroes get dragged into the fray, accounting for that Batman, Red Robin, Wonder Girl?

Green Arrow and Black Canary look as though they are at odds. And is that Scott Free with Barda? Wow, great image. Interesting...

Nope. It's the remains of the Statue of Liberty.

DC's next big event, I'm betting---which is the cover story on next month's Wizard.

Donna Troy is still Wonder Girl. The Kingdom Come characters are present. Max Lord, Blue Beetle, Jade and The Question "just now" died? Sound like The Multiverse is officially back.

Well we have known dead folks, Blue Beetle, Max Lord and Jade, so things don't look good for Question in 52.

Superman is either crying or just staring really hard at WW's breasts.

MM and Barda are there for no real reason other than the ham fisted New Gods references in the newest 52.

Looks like we'll be coming up to Elseworlds...Unleashed!...which should make everyone cry.

The Question has no legs!

And ____ing Kingdom Come, it's everywhere. I swear, the world would be a better place if that mini never happened. Red Robin, lame lame lame.

I noticed three things.

One, Green Arrow and Black Canary seem extremely distant, although they are only feet apart.

Two, the picture takes place in an actual real city, NYC of course, which doesn't happen much in DC.

Three, I don't know the name of the device, but there is one laying on the ground.

Maybe this is WW III. Maybe, the different Earths will be at war with each other, in other words, a Multiverse War. That would be cool, seeing Batman from one Earth fighting his counterpart.

It all has to do with tying 52 and the Elseworlds and Kingdom Come and all the multiple Earths and stuff. Gotcha DC!

It's quite possible this could tie in to Dan Didio's coded "revalation" of the secret of 52 in his coded message a week or two ago. It could explain why we have an Elseworld's style Batman with an old school Donna Troy and a Kingdom Come Robin.
