MEET THE [new] NEW AVENGERS: FINALE
Today we wrap up our look at Brian Bendis’ new New Avengers line-up (as of next month’s New Avengers #27) with our final of eight roster confirmations. This last one isn’t a shocker, but does open as many questions as it answers. For more on that, see below…
WHO: Spider-Man (a.k.a. Peter Parker)
WHAT BRIAN BENDIS SAYS: "Spider-Man – the man who made the biggest boner move of 2006 [laughs]…. He has a lot to answer for.
“There is a lot going on with Spider-Man post- Civil War, not much of which I can discuss, because it will be happening in his own books. But everything that is happening in his books – which is major, major stuff – will be reflected in New Avengers, and the extra added bonus you get in our book is you get to see the rest of the Marvel Universe reacting to him.
“There is nothing better in the whole history of literary fiction than a guilt-ridden Peter Parker, and we have the ‘King Kong’ of guilt-ridden Peter Parker’s now, on this team, trying to make amends for all the damage that was done and all the damage he did in outing himself and dealing with the disastrous implications of what happened since.”
Q: So Leinil Yu will be drawing him in the Black suit, at least to start?
“Yes. He is in the Black suit. Everything that happens in New Avengers mirrors what happens in the Spider-Man books, will be reflected on, and readers will get to see new angles on it.”

Friday Newsarama and Brian Bendis wrap things up with a talk about the roster has a whole, the ‘net’s reaction to it, the questions this roster make-up raise, and the future of the New Avengers.
What is Bendis talking about when he tells us, “As I’ve said in other interviews - and this is as good a reveal as I’ve made - this is actually a better reveal in a way…” ?
You’ll have to wait until Friday to find out…

Meet the [new] New Avengers: Day 4 – Wolverine

This was expected. I'd rather have someone different but I'll take him if only for comic relief. Overall I'm happy enough of the team, if I could I probably would have taken Cloak and Dagger over Spiderman and Wolverine. But I guess there aren't big enough characters to sell the book.
My only real concern is the lack of physical power as Luke Cage seems to be the only real strong guy in the team. Of course, that could change with the identity of Ronin. I predicted it from the start so I am sticking with Hawkeye to be Ronin. Although Captain America's absence makes me feel I could be wrong.
At the end I finished with 5 out of 8, (maybe 6 if Ronin is Cap) leaving me with a narrow win but a win nonetheless.
My prediction:
Echo
Captain America
Spider-man
Luke Cage
Spider-woman
Falcon
Hercules
Iron Fist
Confirmed New Avengers roster:
Echo
Ronin
Doctor Strange
Wolverine
Spider-woman
Iron Fist
Luke Cage
Spider-man

With Spider-Woman, Dr. Strange, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Spider-Man, this is a definite buy title for me....even with losers like Echo and Ronin (though hopefully Ronin will become either Steve Rogers or Clint Barton, which would be great).
Great news!

Good choice. I feel this'll be an interesting comic to read, I'm a bit curious to see what'll happen.

I know this is supposed to be some sort of teaser, but the wording is confusing me. What is he trying to say? That this is a bigger surprise than we think it is? A better reveal than what?

So, 4 old Avengers and 3 new ones...
or it could be 5 and 2.
Nice lineup. I approve.
and I don't see Echo on that penciled page.

I like how pretty much absolutely ZERO of these characters are anyone you would think of when you think "Marvel's Avengers".
Hence the "NEW" in "New Avengers".

I think the 'super hero feel' is for "Mighty Avengers", and the low tech street rebels are "New Avengers". So any reader marketable for Wolverine, Spider-man Spider-Woman, the popular ones, are supposed to find the remaining members more acceptable. And the new readers also will then be exposed to these guys and maybe take on their books (Iron Fist, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man and Wolverine) as well. ...Maybe, ...being a publishing company... ya think?
Bucky is Ronin... oh yeah, I said it.

I was really hoping it would be Hawkeye. Never liked Bendis' take on Spidey. Ah well...

Is Echo on that cover? I see everyone else, but not her.
And is that Ronin in the back about to bring a sword down on some poor guy? If so the idea of that being Cap may need to be re-evaluated.

I admit, though I didn't care much for the Bendis Avengers so far, this sounds interesting and I'll at least try a few issues.

yeah, I didn't see Echo either. And since she's the character I'm most interested in seeing on a regular basis...
please don't let her be a secondary "guest star" member.
