This Weeks DC Nation - A Major 52 Clue!

Here is the relevant part of the DC Nation Column this week:

"This column often hints at many essential facts, but some secrets are ever important to conceal in our retention of the element of surprise. Therefore, above all objections, our one foremost thought is finally recognized and imaginatively coming to fruition. Right here this stands before you, the heart thumping meaning to what waits at our awe-inspired ending is about to see light. So that there is hardly any confusion, a code was transcribed, one easily translated as a harbinger of facts essential to those multitudes who have unilaterally followed the lives of our tenacious heroes from introduction to their various adventures and efforts. We have rallied around these said heroes, whose existence is the stuff of legend. This column's prime information is to let anyone who loves 52 have essential information to x-ecute a very informed opinion to select simply all the clues for summation.

So there you have it, the secret of 52. All you need to know about the stunning conclusion to our groundbreaking series is stated clearly in the paragraph above. Of course it doesn't touch upon the heartwrenching conclusion to Ralph Dibny's journey, the ramifications of World War Three or the ultimate fate of the space team, but it does give you an essential key to the direction of the DC Universe for the foreseeable future and where many future stories lie."

In looking at it, at first blush I'm not so sure it's a code as it is a word elimination cipher. Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think it's saying there's multiple earths or Earth-2's coming back but that's mostly nothing more than a hunch at this moment.

Beat me to it. That's where to start. Possibly take the first letter of certain words. Like the fifth and second words. I tried the 52nd word, but it didn't do much for me.

Of course, they could be f*cking with us.

i started stringing together every 52nd letter, but once i was at e-n-t-r-e-i-e, i knew i'd either screwed up or was on a wild goose chase. somebody want to take time and try that again to check me?

I think it translates as 'THIS IS POINTLESS, ANYONE WHO DOES THIS IS TOO NERDY FOR DC, GO BACK TO STAR TREK'

I've never been good at stuff like this, but the one thing that struck me on a second reading was this phrase:

Quote:

We know Superboy-Prime is somehow involved with the mystery of 52 and DC's big event of 2007 (at least, Green Lantern has hinted at this), so I would think that this may further hint at his involvement.

And "x-ecute" is either really important or a red herring.

Maybe something to do with prime numbers?

Likely essential words/ phrases are:

heart thumping, meaning, ending light harbinger multitudes heroes stuff of legend prime 52 x-ecute clues

so I guess start piecing things together?

Well, there used to be an Earth-Prime and Earth X, are there any other odd wordings that could imply alternate Earths?

I dare someone to toss the whole thing into an anagram generator.

Take the first letter of every third word, starting with the first word. For example:

This column often hints at many essential facts, but some secrets are ever important to conceal in our retention of the element of surprise. Therefore,

=The Secret

It sounds like the multiverse is returning.

"Harbinger", "Multitude", "Stuff of legend...", etc.

52 remaining earths?

Sooooo stoked on this!!!

well, crap. "the secret of fifty-two is that the multiverse still exists."

As the saying goes, "Important, if true."

I hope it is true. The multiverse makes everything easier. The whole trouble since COIE is that there were some DC stories that weren't allowed to be true anymore. It messed up a lot of things. With the multiverse around, there's room for everything.

Maybe the bought the rights to Malibu and Valiant when no one was looking. That would be the greatest thing ever.

meh, for everybody who loves the multiverse, there's people like me who remember how complicated it could be in terms of storytelling when you wanted the different characters to interact together (which readers always did). for instance, taking an old issue of DC Comics Presents featuring Superman and Capt. Marvel (thanks for reminding me of this over at the Seal, Knox) -- since they didn't exist on the same planet, or at least not in the same dimension/vibrational frequency, half the damn issue would get taken up with some stupid explanation for how the two characters got together on the same earth.

as opposed to the current easy way of "they flew into each other". that and i love the idea of there being a JLA and a JSA and a Freedom Fighters and a Marvel Family, etc etc all in the same earth/timeline. splitting them up amiongst multiple earths and giving us multiple versions of the same character just doesn't interest me as much as the way we have it now.
