HEROIC ANNOUNCES LIBERTY GIRL FREE COMIC BOOK DAY ISSUE
Press Release
On FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, Saturday, May 5, 2007, a special preview zeroth issue of Heroic Publishing's new Liberty Comics title will be available at participating comic book specialty stores, featuring four complete "golden age" adventures of America's bronze goddess of freedom, the LIBERTY GIRL.
Stories to be featured in Liberty Comics #0 include "Last Gas for the Fatherland" by Billy Tucci, "Chicago, 1938" by Henry Vogel and Mark Propst, "Liberty Girl Meets the Cactus Man" by Dennis Mallonee and Andrew Pepoy, and "Liberty Girl and the Japanese Demon" by Mike W. Barr and Rob Jones.
LIBERTY COMICS #1 is scheduled to be released in July as a super-sized 52-page quarterly companion title to Heroic's regular Liberty Girl comic book. Liberty Comics will feature the earliest adventures of such characters as Liberty Girl, Doctor Arcane, the original Giant, the savage Tigress, the Golden Warrior, Dark Malice, and other members of the legendary VANGUARD OF FREEDOM. Current plans call for all stories that appear in Liberty Comics to be set exclusively in the "golden age" era from the 1930s through the early 1950s, giving long-time fans of the Heroic Publishing titles their first opportunity to see events from out of the history of FLARE and the LEAGUE OF CHAMPIONS that have been hinted at various Heroic titles, but never seen before.
LIBERTY COMICS #1 will feature the origins of LIBERTY GIRL, the GOLDEN WARRIOR, DARK MALICE, and the original GIANT, making it a must-read for fans of the Heroic Publishing titles.
Beginning with issue #1, each issue of LIBERTY COMICS will features 44 pages of full-color adventure at a cover price of $4.50 in the United States, $5.25 in Canada.

This'll be the gem of this year's fcbd just like that Liberty Girl issue was the gem last year. Oddly, I haven't found the other LG issues at my store, but I keep an eye out for them. Heroic is really impressing me with their line, building a nice home for those fans who are looking for more of the silver age feel that is pretty much gone from any other company (for better or for worse).

in my opinion, Liberty Girl would be more believable as a Golden Age heroine if her long locks were reigned in a bit more.. also, the costume colors could be changed to something a bit more dynamic.
I will be picking up Liberty Comics, though. Anthem has also proven to be a solid comic, Roy Thomas is always great, though i would like to see more classic art... Heroic could be a great line and i'm interested in buying more of their stuff.
