Infinite "Holiday" Special?

Hrmmm....

Doesn't that sort of ruin the pun?

Not in our present overly political correct society.

But the comic's page on DC and Midtown both say Christmas. Weird though.

I doubt they changed the title to be politically correct. More than likely they wanted to reflect the fact that there are other holidays in the book.

Still. . . odd thing to do. It really was a hilarious pun.

It was funny, but Christmas on Infinite Earths would have been better.

You woild think that it should have the sub heading Holiday Crisis or something, just to tie it all together

Yeah, it said Infinite Holiday special. It's not worth the 5 bucks by the way. I skimmed through the Greg Rucka Batwoman story, but the other stuff looked like crap.

Infinite Holiday Special. There's the work of some pussified editor.

That...

or savy business people who don't want to alienate a segment of the buying audience. Just like the wonderfully titled "Marvel Holiday Special" that comes out every year.

Really? That's disappointing. I was really let down by Marvel's book this year, I was hoping DC's would hit the spot. Maybe Wolverine's will? I need a Christmas fix!!!

I liked it. Then again, I am a sap for emotional stories.

But, it has Batman breaking the fourth wall, and the return of Elseworlds!

Nope. The pun was obviously on Infinite Crisis/Christmas. Infinite Holiday Special isn't a pun, it's mass-market cautious pussification at the cost of the joke. That's lame.

It's not so much that they changed the name to be more inclusive, but that in so doing they ruined the gag.

And apparently at the last minute. If they'd decided this earlier they could have had time to come up with a decent "Holiday" pun.

Steven Colbert should give this a wag of the finger. Normally I wouldn't mind, since I assume it has things for multiple holidays, making the use of the general holiday acceptable. But since it ruins the gag, it deserves a finger wagging.

of course, i can't speak for everyone, but a lot of us non-christian types don't mind at all this time of year being labeled "the christmas season". it's really just a catch-all phrase these days. but of course, someone WILL invariably whine about it...mostly just for attention.
when in rome.....
