Post DREAMWAVE'S TURTLES BOW IN JUNE

According to Diamond’s website, Dreamwave’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Animated is slated to debut in June. As previously reported, the series will be written by Peter David, with art by LeSean Thomas. The new series will tie-in with the new animated Turtles series, but will be similar to Dreamwave’s approach to Transformers: Armada, and will have an edgier feel than the cartoon.

The solicitation for the first issue reads:

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ANIMATED #1
by David, LeSean, Sander, & Ruffolo

They move through the alleys and across the rooftops of the city--mysterious shadow warriors unique in the history of ninjas. In this first issue of their new adventures, tying in with the brand new animated series, learn the story of two men: Officer Ronnie Callahan, a rookie cop, and his old friend, Kenzo. Friends in their youth, they've gone their separate ways: Ronnie to the NYPD, and Kenzo to the fearsome criminal organization known as the Foot. Their paths will cross this night, intersecting with enigmatic, turtle-shelled denizens of sewers and darkness whose activities will result in the death of one of the friends...and the rise of an old menace in the heart of the city.

32pg..........$2.95

Will this be a mini series, or an ongoing?

I am going to buy this comic book. Maybe I am not going to follow this religiously due to never liked TMNT. But this is Peter David we are talking about. He is a "wow" writer. He could write an interesting "Little Mermaid" story too.

And the Dreamwave people have done some decent things. Darkminds was a good series. DW are like Top Cow, just with more capable writers.

Having read more than 10.000 comics I think I can see a good series that is going to be published. My time machine is working perfect. Shut up you.

I liked that b/w TMNT that Larsen was publishing in the mid-90s. That was fun stuff. I'm not sure about this, might be alright. Funny that no one mentions that there is already a b/w ongoing TMNT being published by Mirage right now too.

I love the quality of Dreamwave's books, have a fondness for the Turtles, and have respect for PAD. As long as he keeps it in the flavor of the shows, it will work

He has written several interesting Little Mermaid stories...like the Little Mermaid mini-series that Disney put out in the mid 90's.

Interestingly, the new Turtles cartoon (at least the episodes I've seen) seem to follow the original comics pretty closely....

The question is, will this series be available outside North America? After all, Dreamwave didn't do much effort to bring Transformers to our chores in the end...

That Little Mermaid mini-series wasn't put out by Disney, it was published by Marvel.

If DW does for TMNT what they did for Transformers, WOW! The old TMNT stuff is okay and some of it is great, but with DW doing the drawing and writing, TMNT will not be just a mutation, but an evolution! Will June hurry up and get here?!

I just want to say, and I'm sorry if I offend anyone, that LeSean, as a comic book artist for the TMNT, is nothing but a big waste of space. his turtles are too "turtley"
"So what's wrong with turtles looking like turtles?" you ask? Well ,these are mutated turtles. Thay were created by Eastman and Laird to look like very agile short anthropomorphic turtles. But, LeSean makes them seem like non'mutated-only anthropomorphic, stubby, turtles who are not agile.

ANywho, peace out.
