OUTLAW NATION

From Image

For the first time ever, Jamie Delano and Goran Sudzuka's ground-breaking series OUTLAW NATION is being collected into a single volume by Desperado Studios and Image Comics.

Originally published by Vertigo from 2000-2002, the 19-issue saga tells the tale of Story Johnson, a 100 year-old semi-deranged amnesiac pulp fiction-writer returning home from 25 years MIA in Vietnam. All Story wants is to recover his missing time and catch up with Johnson Family members. Trouble is, a lot of them have "disappeared," and those that are left have put the blame on him.

Writer Jamie Delano explains, "OUTLAW NATION was my shot at a big, sprawling 'American Adventure Story' played on that classic widescreen theater of extremes, the territory of the imagination represented to me, a non-native outsider, by the North American continent and its culture."

"It is a fast-paced, hard-boiled, black-comic, stoned political thriller; a weird Western; an epic family saga touring the underground mythology of America: it is a 'road-movie' of personal discovery for Story Johnson as he returns home to see if the 'American Spirit' of his bizarre family has maintained in its resistance to the oppression of the 'American Dream.'"

Never got a chance to collect the issues when they first came out, so this is a must have.

I wish they collected American Century in one book.

Yeah, this series looks pretty cool. And you can't beat the price! I'll be picking this one up.

No, but the lack of color shouldn't impact your appreciation of it. It was an awesome series.

This was a great series that got lost in the shuffle at Vertigo when Sandman and Preacher were the hot ticket items. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it before.

Loved this series and still own it but will definetely be picking up the book to see the art in b&w. Delano is severely underated as a writer and I think this is some of his best work.

Jamie Delano was probably one of the most underrated writer in the history of the medium. Easily Top 5 of the most underrated, in my book. When fellow brit guys like Millar, Morrison and Ellis are almost given a blank check to play with magor characters at the Big Two, given than Delano did work as brilliant as them sometime better-they obviously were inspired by his work-maybe it would be time that the big guys phone Jamie. And not give him something to "fill a jersey" like it happened when Milligan was on X-Men. It has to be a brilliant concept on the page with a great selling point.

Outlow Nation for Comic Nation

There is beautiful Italian format – BW comic with 96 pages per episode. American standard with 22-24 pages per episode is just not enough. You can read it in 5 minutes max. It’s just not enough for literate reader. I’m in love with this book already. Sudzuka and Parlov are both excelent. Read Parlov's 'Punisher' and see the quality of his work.

Boy, did I love this series! Cut down in its prime and brought to a hasty conclusion by the cruel fates of the marketplace. Anybody considering picking it up in this tpb should do so without hesitation - and you'll be in for a great read.

Everybody within the reach of this post, buy this book and maybe, just maybe, we'll see new adventures of that wild Johnson bunch.
