Sure, Ennis handled Midnighter brilliantly in the various KEV series, and Sprouse's work is always great, but there's something about this that seems completely unnecessary. The latest, most desperate attempt to milk the cash cow that was The Authority, a few too many years after The Authority lost whatever cache it all-too-briefly had as the coolest comic in Christendom.
Ah well, I suppose that's what the Big Two do in lieu of new ideas. How many Wolverine ongoings do Marvel have anyway? Uh-huh? That's two too many.

Given that he's kicking off someone's head pretty early on, that choice doesn't exactly seem filled with dramatic tension to me.

That Chris Sprouse art is tight. Can't get here fast enough.

Ridiculous
Sooo....why send in troops when its obvious a single Midnighter is frightfully more expedient and effective.

If there is anyone in the universe qualified to write a series about a bad ass like Midnighter, its definitely Ennis. His Punisher book is probably my favorite run on any comic, of all time.

I wonder if this will be as painfully gratuitous as The Boys.
I'm guessing yes.

I'm new here. And wondering if it's ok for a first post to consist of nothing but "Hell yeah! Midnighter!"

I flipped through #1 at Baltimore. It's a good comic. It didn't have any word in it at the time but you could follow it pretty well. The ending rocks too. Very nice cliffhanger.

The only problem is, how is this going to fit into the new WorldStorm continuity. Grant already stated that every four issues of The Authority they find a new Earth in the Bleed and try to fix it.

I see it simply as the latest attempt to revitalize the Authority (and Wildstorm) and bring back the coolness. And it's a very welcome attempt.

Absofrigginlutely.
You don't bring A-list talent to a book and expect it to be anything less than what this appears to be. A high quality, kick ass comic.

That's why it says it's a "cryptic" choice.
