Marvel has provided Newsarama with a first look at Olivier Coipel Variant Limited Edition of next month’s Eternals #1 by Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr., the first issue of the six issue miniseries.

Looks like Copiel's channeling Travis Charest and Jae Lee. Very nice cover.

So - if the retailer can order ten copies - without having to order 50 copies of this or that - what price are they paying for them - and what gouge will they throw to the fans?

The Copiel cover is very nice. I am not that big of a fan of his work per se, but he has really been doing some nice things lately (the House of M poster he did was nicely drawn--pleasing to look at). The Rick Berry cover, however, is incredible; I think it's the best of the three that I have seen so far. I am glad that his cover is the regular cover and not one of the "variants". But nobody can go wrong with any of the covers: they're all pretty good.

Copiel's work is awesome! When he is paired with a good inker and colorer, like on House of M, I would argue he is the best in the biz. I won't even hold it against him that he is french.

At 1 per every 25, I'm guessing that you will be able to get the Romita Jr. variants for $9.99 to $15.00 a pop. With the 50:1 variant, who knows. It is a guessing game, but unless this series becomes a surprise monster hit, you'll probably be able to grab them for $45.00 or so. Remember, regardless, the prices will fall after 4 to 6 months... or less time than that, even.

thats no kidding i like getting the variant covers but the high pricing is keeping me from getting some of them. i cant keep dropping 100$ for the variants (civil war sketch). and i know its retailers that are raising the price but with marvel making 50:1 / 100:1 ratios. marvel knows that no retailer can sell 200+ copies of wolverine origins

Why do people even buy alternate covers, just save the jpg to your hardrive. Who cares?

I like that way better than I do the painting to the first issue. The rest of Rick Berry's covers look great, but this one just seems kind of bland.

I like Coipel, but the Berry cover is just so much more interesting.

Coipel's variant cover looks awesome. I think the colourist deserves some of the credit though. Does anybody know who the colourist is?

I miss the way Coipel drew when he was doing Legion Lost. That was some gorgeous art.

Nice cover from Coipel. I like the Romita one better but theyre both great artists.

3 points:

1. Wont be picking this up

2. Give Oliver Coipel a book to draw

3. Agree with Rogue_Tomato with the Variant remark

Nice cover! But Coipel has a problem, a small one mind you. His man figures often (like with this one) look too large, I mean, too wide, too broad. Especially the faces... in house of M this happenned a lot. Sometimes it´s freaky!

But, as I said before, nice cover!
