TRINITY #1
Less than a day to go until the issue hits that stands, and DC Comics has provided Newsarama with at some exclusive pages from Trinity #1, the publisher’s new, weekly comic series.
The solicitation for the issue reads:
Written by Kurt Busiek and Fabian Nicieza;
Art by Mark Bagley and Art Thibert, Scott McDaniel and Andy Owens, Tom Derenick and Wayne Faucher and Mike Norton and Jerry Ordway
Covers by Carlos Pacheco
DC's new weekly series TRINITY explodes in an extra-sized debut issue featuring art by fan-favorite Mark Bagley (Ultimate Spider-Man) and Art Thibert with lead stories and dialogue by Kurt Busiek (SUPERMAN, ASTRO CITY)!
The lead feature explores the unusual bond — and importance — of DC's top three characters, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, as a mysterious dream links them together and may prophesy important changes in their trinity!
Plus, a co-feature in issue #1 explores the mysterious connection between several villains who are watching the Trinity —as well as the near future for these characters and their surrounding world! Co-features in issues #2-4 fill in back-story on some of the other important players in this major storyline. These stories are written by Busiek and Fabian Nicieza with art by Scott McDaniel and Andy Owens (NIGHTWING, GREEN ARROW), Tom Derenick and Wayne Faucher and Mike Norton and Jerry Ordway (ALL-NEW ATOM, INFINITE CRISIS).

So are these just random pages, or are the Nicieza/McDaniel pages interrupting the Busiek/Bagley storyline?

Looks good! I'll be in it for at least the first month...probably longer knowing how great Busiek and Bagley are.

This can't be any worse than Countdown, that's for sure. I love Kurt Busiek and will read almost everything he writes, but I'm suffering for major DC ennui. Other than the excellent Jonah Hex, I've dropped every major DC monthly, and judging by the sales figures, many of you have as well. All this effed up continuity just leads me to not care about it at all. Even Final Crisis 1 was kinda ho-hum. Dead Martian Manhunter? Who cares, he hasn't ever been able to support a series for more than a few months. DC Universe books are pretty damn lame right now. I'd love some suggestions, but I fear there really aren't any good books right now. My Earth-2 self doesn't care either.

Yes.
If this was a shorter, more traditional book, I think you'd see these pages interspersed with each other.

Look at the filenames - it's pages 9-10 and pages 17-19.

I am so jazzed for this now. Wally and his kids feel so alive and vital here. It's a stark contrast to the gloomy, "the kids could age to death at any moment" feel of much of the Flash comic since Wally's return. Peyer's doing a good job bringing some fun back to the Flash so far, but this short appearance just nails them so perfectly.

So who is that guy talking to Morgana Le Fay? I don't recognize him at all.

Am I supposed to recognize that guy running around with the funky staff?
That line about him being an Enigma (as do the shape of his staff and facemask) leads me to think that he may be the Riddler, but I didn't hear anythign about him being disfigured recently.

This looks very good.
I had given up on McDaniel after the piss-poor Countdown: Arena, but the stuff on the three pages shown here looks a lot better than Arena ever did.

It's The Riddler, gone all-Two-Face, I'm guessing, from the shape of the shaft and the smart mouth. Then again, the dude didn't pose any of his threats in the form of a question. This is either a badly-designed new nemesis or a really, really bad idea.
And, no, The Riddler hasn't been disfigured yet in current Batman continuity, but I'm guessing the events in TRINITY are post-Final Crisis, anyway?

I feel the opposite of some others in terms of the cameo. The book itself looks quite promising and I'll definitely give it a shot, but I am glad this isn't another Flash book. I love Wally West and all, but I hate, hate, hate, HATE the kids. This preview doesn't make me feel any differently, either.

I love seeing Wally being a father. I like the addition of the two kids in his life. It offers a perspective of a DC character being a young father.

I like the flash-kids. At least when Peyer, and Busiek it seems, are writing them. I thought they were a bit annoying under Waid too.
