GET AN EARLY COPY OF KICK-ASS #3
Mark Millar pinged us to point out that he's offering a free (pdf) copy of next week's Kick-Ass #3. There's a slight catch.
From Millar: "All readers have to do is have a blog where they review comics and post their blog/ website address plus email addy on Millarworld this weekend. It's exclusive to Newsarama and I guarantee that following these simple instructions will mean Kick-Ass issue three arrives in their mailbox for review purposes. The book is out on Wednesday and this offer closes at 2pm New York time on Monday."
Head on over here to post your addy:

How late is this issue? Almost 2 months? Yeah pass. I'm done with this title as a monthly. I might pick up the trade but at this rate it'll be a while.

it depends - how many pdfs did you order? If you're short, I'm sure Mark can send you multiple pdfs as a zip file.

Way to support the retailers Matt. The guy has a legitimate complaint.

Hey, lay off RonCat. This is serious. Can't you see he's in pain?
Can't someone call for help?
He needs to get to a burn ward asap. That burn was nasty.....

Are they PDF's? I didn't see that on the site, though I believe its the only thing that makes sense for early copy purposes. After all, it IS out on wednessday.

So is the link broken, or is Millarworld broken?
I'm sure retailers will be very happy that the author is giving the book out for free while the publisher/distributor shorts them copies.

I wonder if this is a sign of waning interest in the series. I personally found the first issue to be pretty "meh," and haven't even bothered to read issue 2 yet (it's sitting in my stack of "wait for the arc to end" books, with punisher and daredevil). Given the massive hype machine behind this I can totally see unrealistic expectations for what is, at its core, a fairly simple story, and then scores of disappointed fanboys.

Looks like MillarWorld is down. I was looking forward to checking it out and doing an early review.

Not really, since he did the same thing for issue 1.

You're done with an awesome book as a monthly because the third issue was late?
And it was 1 month late, not 2. Really not a big deal.

I'm confused how you not reading issue 2 translates into you not being "bothered" to read it when you said yourself that it's going into the stack of "wait for the arc to end" books.
I do agree with you that Kick-Ass seems like a very simple story. However, I don't think that's a good enough excuse for "fanboys" to jump on Mark Millar's back just because he tried promoting his own comic book.

i know my boss doesn't care if i come in an hour late to work. they just shrug and say they didn't really have any work that needed done that hour.
i know as a teacher i have no problem when i give an assignment that will be due in a month and the students turn it in a month late. i mean, it doesn't really matter, does it?
of course it does. late is late. it's bad. because lemmings accept problem states as ok doesn't mean a problem doesn't exist.

but who's to say who is at fault here. it could be millar, maybe it's JRJR. honestly, i've enjoyed the story thus far and I could care less if it's a little late.
hell, I loved Ultimates 2 and eventhough the zillion years it took for the last issue was annoying, it was well worth the wait when it finally came out.
and back into the kick-ass point...its not even an "in-continuity" story...so what does it really matter if it's not on time?
