Caliber #2 Cover B: Stanley “Artgerm” Lau of Imaginary Friends Studios

CALIBER: FIRST CANON OF JUSTICE #2
Writer SAM SARKAR
Artwork IMAGINARY FRIENDS STUDIOS featuring
Artist GARRIE GASTONNY

28 pages, FC, June, $2.99

Sam Sarkar's Arthurian western fantasy continues seven years later as Arthur returns to Telacoma to reclaim his birthright. Though prosperous, Telacoma is ruled by fear alone and acts of injustice have become an accepted part of everyday life. The shaman Whitefeather, lost and disillusioned with his search for the Lawbringer, still clings to the hope of finding the man whose destiny it is to wield the gun, CALIBER. Will violence and tragedy befall the son as it did the father?

With heart pounding action and adventure, watch as Radical brings the legend of Arthur to the gritty Pacific Northwest.

Really good first issue with nice art. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I picked up the first issue (as it was dirt cheap) and thought it was ok - but not quite good enough to get me to pick up the second issue - and that preview hasn't really changed my mind.

However, if the reviews are good enough going forward and the trade price is reasonable I'll likely give it a go then.

Looks pretty damn good to me. Likewise hercules. The Radical Comics looks to be a pretty serious new publisher. Wonder what else they've got coming up.

I agree - I don't think I'll pick these book up on a regular basis, although the cheap intro idea was a good one. There's nothing really wrong with Caliber or Hercules for that matter, they just seem a bit flat and uninspired. Good printing on the books, but although the artwork is painted and detailed, it just seems quite dull and bland. It reminded me of the artwork you used to see in educational history books - did the job but pretty boring.

Still, the overall concepts are good and it's always great to see a new publisher try stuff out, but anyone remember Speakeasy comics...? Hopefully they won't go the same way.

According to their website Radical is also getting ready an Aladdin comic starting in October. The 1st cover looks pretty cool, even though Aladdin looks more like Ubisoft's Prince of Persia.

Wanted to chime in and point out that Aladdin is actually going to be a November release. I've updated the website, which is going through a major overhaul right now. It's going to be dark and definitely not anything like Prince of Persia, which is a fine game in it's own right.

Anyone interested in more info on Radical should definitely check out the Radical blog.

I loved the first issues of both these series, but caliber is the one that feels like there is a lot of mystery and a big epic a head of it.
