DEVIL'S DUE TEAMS WITH CAPCOM

Press Release
This year, one of the biggest names in cutting-edge action comics will team with one of the most respected publishers and developers of video games, as Devil's Due announces a new publishing deal with Capcom®. As part of an expansive package, Devil's Due will launch four new titles based on Capcom game properties, including Bionic Commando® and Lost Planet™.

"DDP is very excited to be joining forces with Capcom," said DDP President Josh Blaylock. "Not only are these awesome games, but they have great stories behind them ripe for comics, including a vintage classic with Bionic Commando that's been revived along with the new sequel."

Already a leader in comic books featuring prominent pop culture icons, Devil's Due heads into Summer 2008 with a rapidly swelling library of new adapted and original titles.

"Devil's Due is a very passionate and creative comic publisher," said Germaine Gioia, senior vice president, licensing, Capcom Entertainment. "We are thrilled to be working with DDP to begin evolving some of our highest profile videogame properties in other media."

More details about Devil's Due's plans for Bionic Commando, Lost Planet, and other new Capcom books will be announced at July's San Diego Comic-Con.

Could a crossover with UDON's Street Fighter be far behind?

I loved Street Fighter from Udon, but seriously? Those delays sucked.

Im still mad they never finished the Exalted series.

Dreamwave's Capcom comics ended as hard as anything else with the company did.

I FINALLY just picked up Udon's Art Of Capcom book recently. As much as they;'ve been underproducing because they've been busy with the SF2 HD game - I am looking forward to their upcoming Street Fighter Turbo series. No idea if they'll ever get the flow right to finish off Darkstalkers.

Devil's Due has experience working with Udon (Joe vs TF vol 3). So I hope they deliver. I was really dissapointed by their Killer 7 comic - but if they make Capcom their next baby now that G.I.Joe has gone AWOL, then I think I'm in business to add another title to my pull list.

Normally I wouldn't pick up video game comics (they just aren't my thing) but with the announcement of a Bionic Commando story coming from them I may have to reconsider.

I can't wait for the bionic commando sequel

I could live without Lost Planet. Bionic Commando sounds interesting.

This is really no surprise because street fighter and dalkstalkers, when it was on a fairly regular schedule, was being done by udon and published under devil's due. Then Udon decided to self-publish and well we know how the story has played out so far. Hopefully this turns out well.

I would love to see the revival of the Mega Man comic. Dreamwave left the fans hanging with a teased MegaMan and MegaMan X crossover.

They did finish it sorta. They published the last issue in the trade edition.

Those of us who spent our hard earned money on the singles weren't enough. Trust me, I'm just as mad as you. Same thing for Rival Schools.

Now if Erik Ko can only explain why its taking so long to print freaking English translations of Street Fighter II and finish the other 2 volumes of that series.

And of course where are the new series that were announced at 2007's NYCC and now a year's gone by with no peep.

And Capcom went with DD......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

You asked for me, and here I am!

First off, congratulations on DDP on making the new deal with Capcom!

Regarding your questions -

It is unfortunate, that EXALTED did not perform well in the comic stores. We have more trades ordered that the actual comic by the end of the run. This actually kinda tells you where the market is shifting in most of the licensed books (non Marvel and DC)....

We are trying to do something to finish off Rival Schools. That book doesn't even generate enough orders to justify a trade... but there's something in the works that if it happens, you will see the final 2 issues of RS. I know there has been a lot of debates on having Rey doing the art, and making the book B/W instead of colors. And I know some of you hated that decision, and some of you liked it. So for the fans who has supported us thus far, just hang on for a little bit longer.

Kanzaki's Street Fighter Manga Volume 2 has been printed for over a month now, but due to some process at Diamond it got stuck in these order adjustment stage and is actually shipping to them this coming week. Volume 3 is being printed and will be shipped off in about 2 to 3 weeks time pending not printers delay.

While we are still plugging away on the SFHD job, we have Chamba getting a head start on SF Turbo (continuing from the pages of SFII the comic), and line art for issue 1 is actually done! Given our past track record, we wanna stock up a little bit before putting them out.

Hey Erik, do you have a launch date set for the Chun Li mini series yet? Will you also be doing any more translations of Capcoms art books? I know there was one which had the art work for virtually all their video games but can't remember the name. It would be sweet if you release an English language version.

Always good to hear from you Udoneko!

I love both Lost Planet and Bionic Commando. Well I'm a huge Capcom Fanboy so more Capcom comics is always a good thing.

I hope Devil's Due picks up Devil May Cry which is my favorite Capcom franchise right now. As for another Capcom title, maybe Resident Evil or Mega Man. ^_^

Thanks for replying Erik.

LOL nothing like a true professional showing up to give an update that makes me feel like I was too "typical Newsarama poster" and said things way harsher then they should have been.

Sorry bout that.
