JOE & ADAM KUBERT AT JIM HANLEY'S 05.14.08
Press Release
Jim Hanley's Universe, New York's Premier Comic Book Retailer, welcomes two comic legends to the store this week; Joe Kubert and his son, artist Adam Kubert. They will be appearing on Wednesday, May 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Joe Kubert is the founder of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in Dover, NJ. He is best known for his work on the DC Comics characters Sgt. Rock and Hawkman and has won multiple awards. Kubert was inducted into the Harvey Awards' Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1997, and Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1998. He will be appearing in support of his new comic, TOR. He is joined by his TOR collaborator, color artist Peter Carlsson.
Adam Kubert, with his brother Andy, are two of the most well known second generation comic book artists in the industry. He's best known for his work on Marvel Comics' Ultimate X-Men title and his most recent Action Comics collaboration with writer Geoff Johns and famed Superman director, Richard Donner.
Joining them will be Dean Haspiel, who is currently being seen in the new American Splendor comic and the upcoming The Alcoholic, by author Jonathan Ames. Haspiel is one of the founders of the web comics collective, Act-I-Vate, and his character, Billy Dogma has become synonymous with the artist himself, sometimes seen as Haspiel's id.
Also appearing are Mike Lilly and Vito Delsante. Lilly is a journeyman artist, having worked for both Marvel and DC Comics and such characters as Batman, The Punisher and Catwoman among others. Lilly is appearing in support of Annihilation: Conquest, a cosmic character centered epic for Marvel Comics. Vito Delsante is mostly known for his work on Scooby Doo and is one of the store managers of Jim Hanley's Universe. In celebration of his seven years there, Delsante will also be signing copies of his new comic, Superman #676.
