IDW FOR MAY 7th: REIGN OF STARSCREAM, ANGEL, MUMMY & MORE

IDW has provided Newsarama with looks at its titles hitting stores this week, which include the prelude to the upcoming Mummy movie, as well as the official continuation of the Transformers movie.

The previews, and their solicitations read:

Transformers Movie Sequel: The Reign of Starscream #1

Chris Mowry, Chris Ryall (w); Alex Milne (a); Alex Milne, Gabriel Rodriguez (c)
The official continuation of the blockbuster TRANSFORMERS movie begins here! When MEGATRON falls in battle, STARSCREAM assumes the role of DECEPTICON leader on Earth. Mustering his surviving allies, he sets out to put his own plan in motion. But before he can do that, he’ll need to retrieve a fallen comrade, carry out a plan of revenge, and leave the Earth to meet up with a major player in the DECEPTICON army. Picking up where the film ended, “The Reign of Starscream” also reveals the fates of other surviving film characters, as co-writers Chris Ryall (Transformers Movie Prequel) and Chris Mowry present a tale of intrigue, betrayal, and dark ambition featuring both old and all-new TRANSFORMERS characters. Featuring art from fan-favorite illustrator Alex Milne (Transformers Movie Adaptation) and covers by Milne and Gabriel Rodriguez (Locke & Key).

The Mummy Movie Prequel: The Rise & Fall of Xango’s Ax #1

Joshua Jabcuga (w); Stephen Mooney (a & c)
In the prelude to next summer’s blockbuster Mummy movie, adventurer Rick O’Connell and his son Alex embark on their most dangerous adventure yet. In Burma, Rick procures a stolen jewel that has unearthed the vengeful god of thunder, Xango. Now they have to stay one step ahead of corrupt treasure-hunters and angry spirit-demons if they want to prevent Xango from remaking the world in his image! This special adventure comes to you courtesy of adventurers Joshua Jabcuga (Scarface: Devil in Disguise) and Stephen Mooney (Angel: After the Fall), who also provides the issue’s cover!

Angel: After the Fall #7
Joss Whedon & Brian Lynch (plot); Brian Lynch (w); Sean Galloway, Fabio Mantovani, Stephen Mooney, Mirco Pierfederici, Nick Runge (a); Joe & Rob Sharp, Rebecca A. Wrigley (c)
Angel lost the battle. Los Angeles was sent to hell. The story of what happened during that fateful first night concludes, in this super-sized, jaw-dropping issue. The answers you’ve been waiting for, the stories you wanted to see. Heroes will fall, new champions will rise, and you’ll also see the long-awaited return of… right, like we’re going to tell you here. Brace yourself. Joss Whedon, Brian Lynch, and a host of the comics industry’s most talented artists bring you more First Night!

The art on Angel is great! (Though that image of smiling Wesley gives me the creeps.) I hope this would be a mainstay for the book. While I've enjoyed the series, but felt that the art could have been better.

Also liked the art on Mummy as well.

I keep getting 404 errors on all of the Reign of Starscream pages, minus the cover.

Anyone else having problems?

I also got the 404 errors for the Starscream pages...here's a link to Denton Tipton's blog with the five page preview also. Should be able to view them better there.

As I understand it, Nick Runge, who drew the Wesley story, is the new permanent artist from #9 onwards.

I thought the Starscream book came out already and I just missed it. Looking forward to giving it a look through.

Actually the artist of the Wesley story was confirmed as replacing Urru as the regular artist after the First Night issues I believe.

It has ended. They only solicited 3 issues. Trade's only 104 pages.

I know I read somewhere it was 5 issues too. Actually I'm glad its over. Turned out to be something I shoudln't have pre-ordered if I had known better.,
