WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN TRAILER RELEASED

Marvel has released the new trailer for the upcoming Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon slated for a Spring, 2009 debut. As reported earlier, the new animated series will debut on Nicktoons. And yes, this trailer is the animation without Foo Fighters' music.

The trailer suggests that the series is set following a sneak attack on the Xavier Institute that has placed Professor Xavier in a familiar position - wounded and in the care of Magneto on Genosha. Other familiar beats - the team divided, mutants hunted by the government, the introduction of the Sentinels, and a very "Days of Future Past"-looking future that the X-Men are fighting to prevent.

Thematically - if one can get a feel for the theme from a trailer - the new series looks to be a descendant of the original X-Men cartoon blended with the live-action movies, and looks to be embracing the whole of the X-Universe, as the brief taste showed Polaris, Gambit, Maverick, Dust, Cannonball, Kitty Pryde, Emma Frost, Storm, Cyclops, Spiral, Mojo, the Beast, Angel, Iceman, the Brotherhood, Mystique, Rogue, Senator Kelly and...the Hulk(?).

Seems to be pretty neat, hopefully it can hold up to what came before it (X-men Evolution & X-men:TAS). Truthfully I think some of the character designs are a bit sloppy looking, but hey, I'm willing to see what it has in store.

Despite the name and pointless prominence of Wolverine, I do look forward to this. Steve Blum and the rest of the voice cast looks great and the animation ain't too shabby either.

and the Hulk! Oh snap that surprised me.

Nice to see New X-men there like Dust. I hope Hellion and X-23 appear in the future. And Hulk! Wow! I thought you couldn't have other Marvel characters crossing over.

Looks like a great series.

On the animation side this looks good. Story seems to be a little bit of both "same old same old" and a new touch. And it has Gambit and Maverick in it. And Dust (hopefully Mercury, too). And Hulk? Huh?

But I still hate that that thing is called "Wolverine.............................. and the X-Men". Not because I dislike Wolverine, but because it's a sad confession that the X-Franchise shrunk to Wolverine and Wolverine alone and that he's the only marketable X-Man. And that saddens me.

seems good, nice to see the other mutants turning up, dust etc. but seems to be a bit of a mish mash. I take it this has nothing to do with the original animated or evolution or the films? I think the title says it all, this is a wolverine cartoon primarily.

Wow...uh...i was really skeptical about this. And i mean REALLY skeptical. But they really are embracing the entire X-universe. Mojo, Domino, DUST for pete's sake! I am impressed. Actually looking forward to it now.

Rusty (or Pyro?)? Wolfsbane!?!? Boom Boom (or Skids)? Maverick? Gambit? Hulk!?!? Domino, Blob, Avalanche, Juggernaut, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Polaris, Magneto, Mystique... Forge, Storm, Nightcrawler, Kitty, Iceman, Emma Frost, Cyclops, Beast, Angel, Rogue, Spiral, Mojo, Sentinels..... looks like much more than just Wolverine. I think the name is alright, it isn't a Wolverine show. Its just to get people to watch it, which is fine as long as it stays awesome as it looks! I want a long-term X-Men show! Looks awesome.

Wasn't too sold on this when I first saw the original trailer and the stupid title but this clip shows a lot of promise and it doesn't look they're _____ footing around this time.

Looks like it has some potential, I'm going to reserve my judgment until I actually see the show (though I AM hesitant to see how they deal with Dust in the new series)
