NYCC '08 VIDEO: JOE QUESADA
We always say it wouldn't be a convention without a Cup 'O Joe, so of course Newsarama couldn't cover New York Comic Con and not interview Joe Quesada.
In the following video interview preview, the Marvel Editor-in-Chief visits our newsroom and talks about the coolness of the con itself, and how it makes sense to have a big show in New York - oh, and that little thing coming up called Secret Invasion.

Cool. Mostly covered the basics, no real news, but I like the video format.

Wish I could agree with you... But you get the head of Marvel to do an interview for a COMICS website... And you have him explain what Skrulls are? That's like having the CEO of a car company explain the function of brakes or wheels to a bunch of mechanics...
Still, its nice to see Joe... I keep being amazed at how much weight he lost. Respect!

So, Joe is a Skrull. he did not create OMD, The Skrull did. LOL
But... He looks very thin, very stressed out and tired...
Poor Joe, seems he is passing through difficult times. I think he needs vacations.

There was nothing really news there. But, after watching these videos since this past weeekend, I wanted to say that Newsarama has mostly done a great job with the interviews. The videos are a nice addition to the site.

I have to say, Newsarama did a fantastic job with all of the bite-sized videos. But now, for my mea culpa...
I have been down on SECRET INVASION...but after seeing Joey Q's interview, I'm ready to suspend my disbelief and just enjoy the story for what it is...a lighthearted look at what might happen if shapeshifting aliens infiltrated all of the institutions Marvel Zombies hold near and dear to their hearts.
MAKE MINE MARVEL
or something like that

To his credit, he'd just come from another interview, and had a few more ahead of him, and still had panels. He was running pretty hard all weekend. If it were me, I wouldn't have even been coherent.

I love how even people on a comic forum compliment someone looking thin and not necessarily looking healthy. Because skinnier or not, he kind of looks like hell. ... Just saying.

True enough, but looking like hell is a lot easier when you're, say, 40 pounds overweight... Its not so much the fact that Quesada is looking thin, its how he managed to lose the weight especially with the stress that comes from running a big corporation like Marvel Comics. He really blew up in size when he started out back in 2000/1, maybe he was a stress eater, using food to cope with the responsibilities of an editor in chief... And now he's lost that. I still feel that is deserving of praise, no matter what forum you're on...

When was the last time Joe Quesada did an interview with Newsarama? Is it just me, or does it seem like it's been a while?
I love the new video format and hope they continue!

I think it's time Joe told the world how he lost all that weight. I mean "diet and exercise", sure, but more specific than that. He clearly knows what he's doing, and a ton of people (pardon the pun) would be willing to listen.
That said, anyone else find it odd that his face somehow managed not to lose a pound? Does it just take longer for the head to catch up to the rest, or is he stuck like this for life?

Come on, readers and EiCs of comics, when you do something that will showcase you and your work for the whole world to see (now in video!), clean up at least! No more old t-shirts and not shaving! Yes to having a good wardrobe and not being red in the face all the time because you're scared! Why must that Scot Grant Morrison be the only one who thinks like this?
Yes we can! Yes we can!

I'm not saying you have to suit up, but a nice polo or something would go far in changing the image of the average comic reader.
And I wasn't saying Quesada was red faced and scared, that was more the interviewers, particularly the guy who reminds me of the kid from Freaks and Geeks. Quesada and Didio both know how to communicate very well in public.
And Grant Morrison be solicited all the time, yo. He's like the Hugh Grant of the comics world. Chubby goth girls throw themselves at his feet asking about his very own boom tube. He is the Stig!

Fashion fascist? WTF is wrong with a T-shirt? Or going a few days without shaving, considering everything else that take priority way over that? Doubt a suit and shaven chin are going increase sales of comic books any more than the stubble and t-shirt are going decrease sales. It's a casual fun event. If the man wants to wear a gorilla costume, who gives a rat's ass? Fact is, he's a grown man with a wife and one of the best, most enviable jobs in the world so impressing you is not even on his list of tertiary priorities. That I even have to defend another person's liberties to point that out to you is pretty ____ing ridiculous.
I swear, Ken B., I have yet to see a post from you that is not critcizing someone else for not living up to your lofty standards, or riffing on something negative. I doubt you meet the "perfection" that you demand of others, so be careful about throwing stones when you live in a glass castle. But, of course, your boldness is no doubt enhanced by the anonymity of the Internet.

Okay, I'm digging the new video format. Only one thing to say:
Joe Quesada completely owned those two fanboys in that interview. Yes, it's Joey Q, but stop blushing like a school girl all the way through the interview.
Where's Vaneta? I'm sure she was there. She couldn't interview the Q?
