Oh goodie. Yet another Marvel comic from that notorious homophobe, Orson Scott Card.

Maybe Quesada will AGAIN publicly call everyone who point out that Card has argued for criminalizing PRIVATE gay activity intolerant.

As if he'd say that if we complained if someone argued for criminalizing Jewish practices instead.

Makes me glad I decided to drop all Marvel comics after Quesada's comments. Sorry, but I refuse to be labeled intolerant for speakng out when someone is trying to put me in jail for who I love.

Wow in the first post too... that didn't take long.

Separate the art from the artist. All I can say.

And your argument about "outlawing Jewish practicies" would have carried more weight in this argument if you substituted "Mormon" in there instead...

If I didn't read anything from an author who had strong believes on a subject, I probaly would not read that much.

If the story is good I will pick it up. Regardless of what Olson Scott Cards believes it is still all about the story for me.

Correction for the article: Ender's Shadow is not the latest book

Also, I don't know if I can pick this up. I have such a set vision in my mind of what the Enderverse looks like when I read the books, and I don't want something to ruin that. Which, judging by the art shown so far, will definitely happen.

And forget about Card's political views... I'm very liberal but I could care less about him. He's a great writer, and that's all that matters.

It isn't the latest book, but it's the first book in the Bean series and it runs pretty much concurrently with Ender's Game. After that, the timelines "diverge" and they're essentially two different series set in the same universe. So Ender's Game would be followed by Speaker For the Dead and Ender's Shadow would be followed by Shadow of the Hegemon.

Right, but I was referring to the sentence that said "and will catch up to the latest novel Ender's Shadow."

Ender's game is a classic science fiction novel but after that it goes downhill pretty fast, and i would almost call the sequels unreadable, Ender's Shadow is better but my interest in the comic only goes to the first book

Card and Ender's Game are great. Good job, Marvel.

Wow, really? So if the guy was, say, a virulent racist, you'd have no trouble reading and paying for his stuff?

Wow, this looks great. I love OSC's books, and Chris Yost working on it is even better.

I have no problem with Scott's Mormon beliefs.

I'll buy two copies of each since Dave H. won't be.

So they have Mark Millar the anti-American socialist and Orson Scott Card the Tony Blair Democrat (as he calls himself) who has a thing against gays; it all cancels out.

Neither do I. Heck, with Mormons like this, I may just convert:

FINALLY we will see a comic of Ender's Game!

If you don't know the books GO and check them out! Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead are two of the best sci-fi novels EVER!

Best,

Chris

Mark Millar anti-American? That's a hell of a stretch. I love his version of America, it's the one I want to live in.

You want to live in a place that's always depicted as destroyed and a dystopia with the people constantly saying "Oh My God!" and using rhetorical questions every other time they talk?

You're going to have to buy a lot more than just Card's comics.

When Quesada tried to argue that people who had a problem with Card calling for the government to outlaw homosexual practices were themselves being intolerant I dropped the entire Marvel line.

He'd never try to make a similar claim if someone was complaining that one of his writers were publicly calling for making Jewish practices (or Mormon practices, for that matter) illegal.

I've always been torn, being gay and having Ender's Game as one of my favorite novels. I think it is possible to seperate the art from the artist. I kind of wish I did not know Card's views on homosexuality and then I could enjoy his work without searching for subtext.

As long as the artist doesn't present those beliefs too openly in his or hers stories... No pruhblem. Ender's game is one of THE great SF novels of all time IMHO, and seeing it adapted to comics will be interesting.

Before I ever heard of Card's views on homosexuality (and I still am a bit confused about some of it), I read Ender's Game. And loved it. I didn't notice any anti-homosexuality message in there, did I miss it?

Chris Yost and Pasqual Ferry are the only reason I will be getting this. Not a big Enders or OSC fan but I will be checking this out for the awesome creative team.

There is also a short Enders Universe story in the first Red Prophet HC.
