DAYS OF THE BEAST V, FALCONETTE

There’s been a cataclysmic shift in the WildStorm universe. Things are missing, things are forgot and things are about to change.

The upcoming miniseries Number of the Beast threatens to take WildStorm closer to the brink, but it also shows hope with the return of a hereto forgotten group of heroes known as the Paladins. Newsarama has gotten an exclusive look at the eight heroes in the Paladins, and we’re profiling them with exclusive character sketches and words from the series creators.

Today, we find the Falconette, winged sidekick to yesterday’s Thrush.

Scott Beatty: The Thrush's teen partner-in-crimefighting, still learning the ropes.

Chris Sprouse: Falconette is Robin to The Thrush's Batman, basically--a younger, spunkier winged wonder. I designed Thrush first, and just went with the same basic bird helmet look for Falconette.

Next up… the mysterious Mago!

Previously:

Aeronaut
Black Anvil
Engine Joe
Thrush

My first ever post is a first - I think - big whoop - I'm a nerd.
Chris Sprouse is one of the best - It's already been said but he's wasted toiling away in the Wildstorm Universe. What I wouldn't give for some more Tom Strong.

Well this looks interesting. I make it a point to give at least a look to anything Chris Sprouse does.

I have always loved Sprouse's work but unfortunately he has always been notoriously slow which means he starts a book and then leaves shortly thereafter. I'd love to see him improve on his speed and stay on a book for awhile.

i think the one question tha is burning in the minds of everyone looking at these pictures is...how big a role with "Impact" font play in this book?

Wow -- I have to admit, I dig that costume. Very old school, which I love.

It's Hatchling of Chicken Woman!

I bet the feathers fly when they get into a fray. Or is it just a pillow fight at girls' nite? I can hear the fight scene dialogue now, 'Which do you prefer, wings, breast or legs?' *fwap*

So, is Col. Sanders their mentor?

Mmm, Chick-Fil-A.

"The Robin to Thrush's Batman?"

Oh goody, more forcing retarded Crisisland clones into WildStorm. Stop with these stupid damn Silver Age punch-ups and return the old WildStorm characters to their mature characterisations and storylines!

If anyone ever wonders why DC is always behind Marvel, the key reason is DC's huge, crippling allergy towards any innovation or modern-style creations. Not that Marvel is completely free of the fanboy editor disease, just that DC has a much bigger weight of crap on its back (a ridiculous multiverse that is far too damn confusing and the traditional audience's dogmatic perception that all modern posthumans who don't follow cookie-cutter rules are 100% evil).

So, not getting this. Write something with a bit more edge to it DC.

We get it. You don't like it. I figured it out after the 2nd time you commented on the character design. Eesh. There's plenty of other comics out there for you.

I found Armageddon and Revelations to be a fun adventure comic that helped to work on reestablishing the status-quo of the Wildstom comics. They do refer back to events in WildC.A.T.S. v3 (Hadrian as businessman for example)

I'm looking forward to reading Number of the Beast.
