WITCHBLADE/DEVI #1

Top Cow has provided Newsarama with a first look at April’s Witchblade/Devi #1 by Ron Marz and Eric Basaluda.

The solicitation for the issue reads:

Witchblade/Devi #1

(W) Ron Marz (A) Eric Basaldua (Cov) Greg Land, Basaldua

When a murder investigation takes her to India, NYPD Detective Sara Pezzini, the bearer of the mystical Witchblade, crosses paths with Devi, goddess incarnate and protector of Sitapur in the first-ever crossover with Virgin Comics! If they can survive their initial meeting, the two women will confront a powerful common enemy, and discover that this is not the first time an incarnation of Devi and a bearer of the Witchblade have met.

From the powerhouse team of Ron Marz (WITCHBLADE, FIRST BORN) and Eric Basaldua (THE DARKNESS, HUNTER-KILLER) and featuring two covers including half of a diptych cover by Greg Land (ULTIMATE POWER).

Look for the other half of the tale in Devi/Witchblade #1 from Virgin Comics in May!

Cover A – Greg Land
Cover B – Eric Basaldua

Full Color 32 pages $3.99 limited series

The only Virgin comics I've read so far are 7 Brothers.

The artwork on this one looks good. What other Virgin titles are worth checking out?

I've really only read Guy Ritchie's Gamekeeper, which I really liked.

I have really enjoyed Seven Brothers and Snakewoman. Gamekeeper has been fun as well.

This book looks pretty cool.

Hmm... I think i'll check into this one. Not read anything of Virgin Comics before, so this should give me a taster of that. If it's any good, i'll probably try the Directors Cut's ones.

E.BAS is amazing. I've been waiting for him to do interiors for awhile. I got into his art when he was doing tomb raider covers awhile back. I really dig his work..hope I can catch him at a convention sometime. I'll try to add a Eric Basladua checklist to the Comic Abyss website.

Has there ever been a character that's had as many inter-company crossovers as Witchblade? I swear, she's never met a crossover that she didn't like...
