INDIANA JONES TRAILER GOES ONLINE

After debuting it on ABC’s Good Morning America Paramount today released the trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull online at both Yahoo Movies and www.IndianaJones.com.

The teaser doesn't clear up much of the mystery surrounding the film’s story, although a report from USA Today yesterday, explained the story as:

Crystal will be set during the height of the Cold War in 1957, with Jones on the hunt for South American relics with supernatural powers.”

The trailer shows Jones, along with Ray Winstone, facing off US Army soldiers, along with Indy driving and fighting his way through what looks to be a rather familiar US Army warehouse...possibly one where other artifacts are stored...ones that were supposed to be under the study of "top men." But of course, that's just speculation, something which will certainly run rampant now that the trailer is out.

And also, for those expecting that Shia LaBeouf would be playing Indy and Marion's son...maybe not. As shown in the clip, LaBeouf's character asks Jones, "You're a...teacher?"

"Part time." Indy replies.

The teaser shows that, as with the previous three movies, Crystal will be a very physical movie for star Harrison Ford, perhaps the most physical one yet, as he mentioned to USA Today

Ford dismissed notions that, at 65, he may be a bit out of shape to play the action hero. Ford told the newspaper that he kept in decent shape over the past 19 years because: "I've been anticipating and hoping we'd have one for the past 15 years."

That warehouse looks somewhat like the one from the end of Raiders. Might be a neat callback. Anyway, looks pretty cool.

Wow, Harrison Ford looked good here. The pics I'd seen before now gave me comfort, and now in action I know he's still got it.

Weird to see an Indiana Jones movie with the newfangled LucasFilm special effects, but it all looked great.

yeah, i know Darabont's original script for this film involved ET's [don't know if it involved crystal skulls], but the one crystal skull they have revealed an image of looks quizzically similar to a classic 'gray alien' head...so i'm thinking ET's will still be involved in Crystal as well, if only as the progenitors of the skulls or something.

and this trailer? the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls trailer is my valentine this year. good stuff.

Could easily be a "getting to know the father he never knew" scene.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking. I always kind of assumed that if that was the direction they were going with it, the movie would be the first time the two saw each other.

Nice catch, whoever pointed out the warehouse's similarities to the end of Raiders.

My thoughts exactly. I just hope the end of the movie isn't some sort of 'passing of the torch' thing where Indy goes dead or missing and Shia picks up the hat.. Shia ain't no Harrison Ford.

I have to disagree there. Of his "Trinity" themes (Jones, Star Wars, Superman), I find Superman to be the superior theme.

Awesome!

I read that Lucas was pushing Roswell and aliens and wouldn't do another Indy movie unless that was the plot. Finally Spielberg and Ford relented, but it took 15 years.

My hope (and this trailer is a good indication) is that Spielberg and Ford can cover for anything that Lucas has messed up.

it's the music that reminds you why you love the character so much... then you see the visuals with the music and you turn into a 10 yr old all over again

I can't wait to see it now

Like Mr. Ford, many of us have been staying in shape in the hopes we would see another Indiana Jones movie the last 19 years. I've already predicted this will be the biggest money-maker for 2008. Iron Man? Forget it. Batman: Dark Knight? It will do great (especially now with the unfortunate passing of Mr. Ledger) but I see some big numbers (maybe 400 million?) for what will be the last Indiana Jones movie (at least with Harrison Ford but I don't see another film without him). This trailer, brief as it is, looks GREAT!
