WORD BALLOON: FX'S WHEDONESQUE PANEL

Word Balloon's coverage of the 2008 FX International Con continues with a panel exploring the Whedonverse with three actors from the various Joss Whedon TV shows.

From Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander; Elizabeth Rohm - Kate from Angel, and Serena Sotherlyn from Law and Order; and Nathan Fillion, who's currently playing Adam Mayfair on Desperate Housewives, but is better known to Whedon fans as the evil preacher Caleb on Buffy, and Captain Mal from Firefly and the film Serenity.

Some cast news from the panel...

Fillion will be the voice of Steve Trevor in the upcoming DC direct to video Wonder Woman animated film, with his Waitress co-star Keri Russell as the Amazon Princess; and is also starring in the indie film, Trucker.

Rohm's 2007 series, Big Shots was canceled by ABC, but she'll co-star with Danny & Angelica Huston, in the upcoming motion picture The Kreutzer Sonata.

Brendan has two films in post production, The Portal, and Blood On The Highway.

Then the show switches to the FX Con floor, featuring interviews with Gene Ha (Top 10) Freddie Williams II (The Flash, Robin) Derrick Fish (Dandy & Company) and Shannon Chenoworth (The Line, Supersonic).

Lol, that's kinda funny, considering I liked him for the role of Steve Trevor in a live action movie.

Nathan Fillion is Hal Jordan in the live-action Green Lantern movie.

Except that there is no live-action Green Lantern movie and Fillion has said that if there ever is, he doesn't want the role.

Really? That totally sucks. He'd be perfect.

IS.

And I don't care what he said, or was purported to say, he is Hal Jordan. No one can deny their own destiny.

I've been saying the same thing. He would be a perfect Hal Jordan.

If not Fillion, then Ben Browder.

OMG yes. I used to do these Photoshop pictures of Browder (circa Peacekeeper Wars) as Hal Jordan. Up until I saw Serenity (the FF pilot) I thought he was perfect. I still think he should be a lantern. I don't know who, though. He's not a Guy Gardner, but maybe a young Sinestro? I've never seen him as a villain.

How about Fillion as Barry Allen and Browder as Hal Jordan in a THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD movie?

Oh, and Christopher Eccleston is Sinestro. Just watch him in 28 DAYS LATER.

Now, does this have an actual interview with Fillion on his role on Trevor, or is it just a panel?

Ben Browder would be perfect for a post-CoIE Hal Jordan. Nathan Fillion is more a Silver Agey Hal.

I'm with you. Ben Browder needs to migrate to the big screen.

John's shows are always superbly entertaining. Wonderful questioning coming from a passionate and true fan, which end up bringing out the very best in his guests. A genuine treat. Thank you.

I've liked Fillion since Two Guys and a Girl (Ryan Reynolds was great in that too - wonder if the show holds up? I find it hard to believe that it was a 1998-2001 show. I remember it being more of a 1995-98 show). I would like to see both those guys make it big. Reynolds has had some success, but he is not a big star. Maybe he could be Gnort alongside Fillion's Hal.

It was a panel featuring Fillion, Brendan, and Strohm from the Whedonverse. I was hoping that Fillion would discuss his role on LOST, and whether or not he'll be returning to that show.
