QUESADA ON THE COLBERT REPORT

Joe Quesada appeared on Tuesday's The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, updating Colbert on the new Captain America (Colbert assumed he was going to be the new Cap), Presidential candidacy requirements in the Marvel Universe, and the over-growing danger of Skrulls.

A little disappointing that there guys crossed the WGA picket line to shill for Marvel on Colbert.

Oh, come on... you know interviews don't need writers.

I want one of those "Colbert/Iron Man" Bumper stickers.

OK, last time they had the picture of the Hulked out Colbert; was there a Srulled out one for this appearance?

Not so sure how the whole Skrull thing went over with the general public there... Something about shapeshifting aliens that knocks down your appeal a couple notches. Maybe he could have approached it from another angle, like downplaying the aliens and building up the "Who can you trust?" aspect.

But Marvel Studios did decide to settle with the Guild, so I'm willing to forgive.

Huh? First, Joe isn't affiliated with the WGA. He's not violating anything by going on the show. Second, if it's a solidarity thing you are talking about, Joe is the editor in chief of a major company. It's his job to sell his product, and while he may sympathize with the WGA (who knows?), he has his own bosses to answer to, and an opportunity to get 5 minutes to sell your product on a major late night talk show viewed by an average of 1.3 million people, the majority of whom are age 18-49, and get invited back to said talk show for another 5 free minutes does not come along every other day. Finally, Marvel Studios has signed a deal with the WGA, so as far as the writers are concerned, Marvel has given in to their demands. Is this just bitching to bitch? C'mon man, it's the Colbert Report... unclench and laugh.

Joe may not use the coolest hair products any more, but at least he still has three or more buttons undone on his shirt, BAY-BEE!

JQ=GQ

(well, in the Marvel Universe)

funny funny stuff.....how come Joe Q. looks more and more like Andrew Dice Clay as he ages on?

Can't wait for Secret Invasion.

Funny, I'm actually glad that Quesada did cross the picket line. The WGA's greed for additional residual income has cost production people their jobs and certainly shouldn't be a blockade to Quesada looking out for his company's best interests.

Say what you will about the Skrull stuff or anything, but having Steven Colbert point to his camera and yell "The new issue of Captain America comes out tomorrow!".... well that's just amazing. That just wouldn't have happened 5-10 years ago.

man, that OMD stress diet is really working for JQ. Could I be EiC at marvel? Just as long as it takes me to lose a stone....

Wow, does someone want to be a producer when they grow up?

Nope, just someone who is pissed off that various camera operators, grips, hair and makeup people, etc. have lost their jobs while the WGA tries to strongarm more money out of the studios. You don't see those production staffers worrying about their residual income...

Funny. I look at the strike as being the studios wanting to screw EVERYONE out of residual income (directors/actors/writers/etc). They weren't giving them didly for internet placement/revenue, if they were giving anything at all. It's why the directors were going to strike (and the studios put a deal together quickly for them). It's why the actors may strike later.

Greed is everywhere.

That's what I was thinking. I mean, love him or hate him, Joe Q is a damn good businessman and exactly what Marvel needs. Taking into consideration the kind of pull Colbert has among the young male demographic, this is a damn good move.
