A CALL FOR BRAND NEW DAY QUESTIONS FOR STEVE WACKER

Along with the legion of creators, Spider-Man Editor and Newsarama pal from way back, Steve Wacker is putting the finishing touches on the first batch of books that fall under the “Brand New Day” banner of Spider-Man – that is, life post “One More Day” and whatever that may bring.

We’ve told you about the teams, Steve’s been over to talk about Spidey a few times, and now it’s your turn. Steve told us he’s willing to field the ten best Spider-Man: Brand New Day questions from Newsarama readers about the upcoming era. Please note - Wacker’s not going to give away any secrets of how “One More Day” ends, and will be somewhat limited in what he can say about the specifics of Spidey’s life post his run-in with Mephisto.

That said – check out the solicits for the initial Brand New Day chapters, and get back here to post you best. Time’s a ‘burning – we’re putting this call out now, and will be closing the thread Friday, Decmeber 7th at 12:00pm, EST. Look for Steve’s answers Tuesday by noon, and look for a lot more from Spidey’s beloved and beleaguered editor in the weeks to come.

Just a reminder:

Question: When are Peter and MJ getting back together?

Folks - with questions like that, you're wasting your time. From above: "Wacker’s not going to give away any secrets of how “One More Day” ends"

If you want to vent and rant about OMD, there are multiple threads on Talk@ (both Marvel and main) as well as Blog@ to do it in. This thread is for questions about BND.

I believe i've read that JRjr will be making his long awaited return to the spidey book pencilling for Dan Slott at some point, as much as i love Jrjr's spidey, does this mean Steve McNiven is leaving Amazing after his first arc or will he be moving to another writer or just taking a break?

Steven, seeing as how the main writer of One More Day has expressed his reservations about the story, even going as far as requesting his name be removed from the story, how much of this story was a consenus decision and how much of it was dictated directly by Joe Quesada?

If this was Joe's "baby", why didn't he write the story himself?

When trying to write it, how many back doors were created in case the new approch does not work?

And again - this is a thread for questions about Brand New Day - OMD is edited by Axel Alonso.

Did I write those instructions in not English?

Will Brand New Day explain why Logan never mentioned Elixir to Pete?

Mr. Wacker:

Can we please know when exactly "Brand New Day" will be starting? The latest that I've heard about "One More Day" is that the final chapter will be out January 28. How soon after that can we expect Amazing Spider-Man 546?

Thank you.

Steven, how long in advance have stories for Amazing been sketched out for? Does editorial know where this book will be in 2 years (72 issues)?

Can you guarantee this series shipping on time? Your EiC hasn't really set a good example for the other artist on this series.

Also, will you quit this series halfway through to jump back to DC? (calm down, calm down)

Will BND finally give us the post Civil War J.J. Jameson/Peter Parker confrontation we've all been waiting for?

Will there be a return of classic villians and supporting cast members starting in BND

I'm mean we haven't seen the Chameleon, Hobgoblin, Shriek, Toxin, Cardiac, Prowler, Scream, and Carrion. We havent seen Pete's close friends like Randy Robertson and all the tenents that lived in his apartment building in the last Spectular series.

Also, one last question, will we see any super hero team-ups in BND?

Mr. Wacker,

Are these stories written, penciled, lettered and colored ahead of solicitations so that the books will actually arrive on time (unlike OMD)? I understand things can happen, but are the initial issues ready to roll off the press and into those nice Diamond/UPS boxes?

Just curious, as i'll want to read my friend's copies since Spidey is ruined after OMD.

What does Mr. Quesada have against Spider-Man being married and the need to have him single again?

If I want to read about a single swingin' Spidey, I have plenty of other options that Marvel already publishes.

Sorry Matt, I'll rephrase.

Mr. Wacker, seeing as how the main writer for "One More Day" has expressed reservations over the storyline leading into "Brand New Day". Have any other writers expressed any issues over the new status quo or the events that led to it? Has editorial made any changes to stories that have led to writers requesting their credits be removed as had apparently happened with "OMD"?

It is my understanding that you guys have planned out a whole years worth of stories for Brand New Day. Is Brand New Day a year long story arc? If so, what will happen to that storyline if the 3x monthly format does not work for you guys? Also, how will these issues be collected in TPB/ Hardcover format?

oh man, this is too hilarious how this thread is turning out.

good luck Mr.Wacker.

I do have a question that I think is legitimate though:

Since the issues will be coming out more often will the releases of trade paperbacks collecting BND stories reflect that speed? Will the trades collect two three issue arcs or will 3 issue trades be released as well?

To boil it down...how soon after the first arc is released can we expect a trade?

thanks

Steven, will each wiriter be able to set their own "tone" for their issues, or will the stories need to be homgenized since this is a single title?

Am I right in assuming every villian will be new, or will there be returning villians? And what supporting characters are remaining/are any previous supporting characters returning?
And any hints on Menace and Jackpots identities?
Im satisfied with hints for the previous questions aswell, aslong as we're given some sort of tease of whats to come.

What are some words you would use to describe the overall theme of BND? "Fun," "Nostalgic," "Progressive," "Tragic," "Epic," "Romantic"? And no fair saying all of the above!

So, in Brand New Day, if Peter Parker picks a peck of pickled peppers, how many peppers does Peter Parker pick?

Steve,

How much of the older supporting cast (Flash Thompson and even some of the fellow students Peter went to College with) might we see given the fact that you have someone like Dan Slott as one of the writers?
