IMAGE COMICS BALTIMORE PLANS + TEASERS
Press Release
Image Comics returns to the Baltimore Comic-Con in a big way September 8th and 9th with two panels, The Mice Templar Retrospective and the newest Image Comics Show!
"Our next edition of the Image Comics Show will be a great one," said PR & Marketing Coordinator and Image Comics Show host Joe Keatinge. "On tap for the panel will be Erik Larsen, Scott Kurtz, Dean Haspiel, CB Cebulski, Frank Cho and around half a dozen announcements I'm dying to reveal. We're also doing a retrospective on the Mice Templar. Mike Oeming and Bryan J.L. Glass have been working on this book for around twenty years so we've dug into their archives to unearth never before seen conceptual art they'll discuss during the show."
Attending fans will have the chance to participate as Image is looking for people to film both panels for internet circulation and Image isn't going to let them go home empty handed.
Keatinge adds, "The first five people who contact me about filming both panels and throwing them on YouTube will receive a free copy of the Mice Templar #1 Retailer edition as well as a set of all four Image Comics 2007 convention exclusive prints! As this is our last convention of 2007 this may be your final chance to obtain these limited items!"
Mice Templar: A Retrospective takes place Saturday at 11:00-11:50 in The Batcave (Rm 318-320) and The Image Comics Show will be on Sunday, 2:00-2:50 in Avengers Mansion (Rm 319-320). The Image Comics can be found throughout the show at booth 1150. Joe Keatinge can be contacted at joekeatinge@imagecomics.com.

Mice Templar Retrospective?
A retrospective for a book that's been out one week?
Boy, I remember last Wednesday when I picked up the book for the first time...

The books been in development for over sixteen years. There's a whole lot of history people don't know about. Mike and Bryan have a plethora of never before seen conceptual stuff to show off.

I'd guess the ImageTease2 picture might be from DETECTIVES, INC.; I think the revival of this books was supposed to be coming from Image, though I may be out of date there.
For the Invincible tease, an Atom Eve mini?

Image and I are working to make sure we have copies of Compass #1 to debut at our booth in Baltimore. I'll also have some extra copies of the bilingual version of Compass Zero from Comiket in Tokyo on hand as well!
Enjoy,
C.B.

Those sketches with the frost dude look like Erik Larsen art. Maybe the Savage Dragon will return?

Image puts out some decent books, but it would be nice if they'd try to....you know....sell more. They were the #1 company once, then #3 and now I don't know. They seem content to stay absolutely under the radar. Why do that when your books are the best they've ever been? That business plan might be ok for a super indie, but Image has more muscle than that.

Well, now I certianly have to make it for this, but I've never been to a con before. How do you get into a panel? Is it just first come first serve until the room is full or what?
BTW, Mice Templar #1 was incredible and I'm stoked for the rest of the series.

Yes, it generally is. Usually the seating is pretty good at this show, though it's definitely growing in terms of attendees. The schedule's supposed to be in the program book, I think, so you can stake out the room a bit early.

So long as people are digging my Image books, sales don't freak me out. We get good books out on time, people will come.

I'm with you I've heard so many references to when Templar started either 1998-99 on the web, 2003 in a short story, an idea since mid 90's, now image says its been in the works for almost 20 years...give me a break. You do realize 20 years is 1987 right? Stop trying to justify its existence just by saying the ideas been around forever. Justify it by doing the work and getting it published and letting the work stand on its own merits. No Templar fan is gonna give a crap if it was printed before or after Mouse Guard so stop trying to act like it was first just because you had an idea a long time ago. The Templar/Guard fans like me are sick of this tit for tat about who came first. Bottom line, there was a short story in 2003 and the first issue was out last week and we like what we've seen so far. Save the retrospective for when we've had a chance to enjoy the first year of the series. Give it a rest! Please!

Say it ain't so!
I like Cory fine, but Ryan's done the heavy lifting on this title for almost 5 years now & has made this his own. Some sort of spin-off with Cory, fine, but Ryan has earned Invincible & should keep it. FOREVER!

I'm pretty sure the Image guys understand basic math. No one's debating when the book was first published. They're saying it's been in development for a long time, and there's tons of production and development material that fans have never seen.
If you're into that sort of thing, great. If you're not, that's great, too. No one's putting a gun to your head and forcing you to read anything. I don't see a reason to be upset over it.
