DARKCHYLDE FILM TAKES FLIGHT?

It's the comic book film project that went under your radar.

Randy Queen passed along this note to share with Newsarama readers about Darkchylde:

"Just wanted to give a heads up that the first filmic images have been captured of Darkchylde, based on the comic of the same name. I am intimately involved, as is 5 time Oscar Winner Richard Taylor (King Kong, Lord of the Rings) and Weta Workshop, and Dark Horse (Hellboy)."

"The story revolves around a very pretty girl's curse that allows her to transform into different creatures from her many nightmares. Ariel Chylde is a physical pandora's box, and these creatures borrow her blood and bones to hitchhike over to our world. Everytime Ariel changes, she sets a different horror creature free in her small southern town.

"I am very passionate about what I think works and what hasn't over the years. We have the A list team, and our expressed goal is to produce an original, beautifully shot, atmospheric horror film, played very straight and very dark, ala a modern Carrie or Ridley Scott's Alien, with a wicked, sexy cool Underworld vibe. Our only wish is to create a film for the horror fans of the world to get excited about, so everyone please wish us luck!

"Promise to report more when able.

Whoa. That looks hella cool.

I'm not thoroughly well versed in DarkChylde lore, but that image alone is worth delving into that universe. I mean...well, what do YOU guys think of a naked woman with monster arms?

Me, too.

Awesome. Done right, and this will make an absolutely excellent film.

Darkchylde was definitely one of the underappreciated indie greats of the nineties. I miss it still.

I hope they do this justice.

Not sure I even knew they were making a Darkchylde movie. Judging by the single screen shot: so far, so good.

Darkchylde's about a girl who can transform into and summon monsters from her own nightmares (she just can't send them back). I fail to see how it relates to Underworld.

Never knew they were making a movie on this. Had the first Maximum Press series and thought it was pretty cool but lost track of it after that. Does anyone know if and where it was published after that?

So Sweat!!!
I loved the Darkchild comics!!!
Randy's art was great and very detailed
The 1st story was cool and should make for a good movie though with some tweaks
And that girl in the picture even looks like some of the Ariel drawings Randy did...

High Hopes!!!
Wish Darckchild the movie the best!!!

Image, then Wildstorm, then Randy's own Darkchylde Entertainment.

Jumpin' Jesus Christ on a motor scooter why in the Blue Hell I haven't heard of this flick ? Was a big fan of the characters in the series, and got most of the books from Maximum, Wildstorm, McFarlane, and on through Randy Queen's own Darkchylde Studios. Haven't seen the troubled young lass since issue 2 of Legacy, and cliffhanger it ended on ? Maybe we'll get see the Ariel and whole gang back in the funny books with this flick.

lol @ calling underworld a horror flick. I loved those movies but they weren't horror movies.

I definitely didn't know darkchyld was being made into a movie, I lost interest in that property a long time ago after all his company changes and shipping problems. Good for him.
