MARVEL ZOMBIES HC GETS FIFTH PRINTING

Press Release
Marvel is proud to announce the unprecedented fifth printing of the Marvel Zombies HC, the critically acclaimed hardcover that has readers chomping at the bit for more of that tasty Zombie goodness! Continuing the Marvel Zombies tradition of new stunning Arthur Suydam covers for each printing, this collection’s cover features a brand new homage to Mary Jane #1! Written by fan favorite Robert Kirkman (Ultimate X-Men) and penciled by Eisner-nominated artist Sean Phillips (Criminal), Marvel Zombies presents a horrifying view of the near future where Marvel’s heroes and villains become zombies. Why does this happen? Who will lead the resistance? And just who makes the best snack for Hank Pym?

Collecting Marvel Zombies #1-5, this hardcover is a must-read for Marvel fans new and old and with this brand new Arthur Suydam cover, how can you not hit the jackpot? Like the other four printings of this hardcover—which have all placed in Diamond’s top ten list each month they shipped—it won’t be around for too long. Don’t miss your chance to own a copy this summer!

Not to mention that....(according to that Mayo dude over at comicbookresources.com) the 1st and 2nd issue of the original series is still being reordered...you know its funny, how this mini-series was originally seen as this fun little aside, and it has become this break-through to the mainstream readers. I mean, you have no idea how many non-comic fans I have seen or know reading it. Whether picked up by word of mouth, or at Hot Topic or whatever...I don't mind if they continue wh0!ing this series out till its not special anymore, cuz I really believe this is one of the first "corporate comics" in awhile to draw in new readers. Its funny though, people who don't have their hands dirty into the world of weekly comics get confused why theres no new issues or when they come out.

Anyways, just wanted to add my two cents, I'm really proud of Marvel, and the creative freedom they've given this series, let that be a lesson to what that can do to draw in new readers when they experiment (though I'm kind bleh about them tossing it into Black Panther...they need to keep their appearances "tighter" to mini-series with their name on it...otherwise you frustrate new fans who have no idea what a Black Panther comic is...or how its connected to the Marvel Zombies proper).

I picked this great series up with the first HC and it was fantastic.

That said, why is there a continuing of hardcovers and yet no TPB printings, instead?

If people will still buy the Hardcover, why would you bring out a trade paperback. It's like why the DaVinci Code was only in hardcover for 3 years.

Word!

Where was this MJ cover an homage of? I can't seem to place it...

Do all the printings of the MZ HC, also have pages in the back showing the alternate covers to the previous printings hardcovers?

WOW!! Never thought it will be such a great success, just hope this bring more readers to Walking Dead. Kudos to Kirkman, Phillips and Marvel. Peace.

as shown by the pic in scottmdavis's post, it's actually from Mary Jane #2

Well, considering that the HC is still selling out, Marvel won't want to put out a cheaper version anytime soon.

Though this I don't think this Mary Jane cover is exactly going to generate a whole ton of extra sales. This may turn out to be the final printing for the HC for a while.

How so?

Should they not meet demand?

Or is it just the cover you find lacking?

Yeah, it's the first Mary Jane series, not Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane like someone else said. It was also the cover to the first Mary Jane digest (which may, if stretching for a good reason) be why the press release had #1. Yeah, probably not.

Maybe I'm just tired, but I'm not making the connection between Marvel Zombies and Criminal. Aside from awesomeness.
