Meg Cabot's magical Arthurian epic continues...manga style! TOKYOPOP, the leader of the Global Manga Revolution and HarperCollins Publishers, one of the top English-language publishers in the world, are pleased to announce the July 2007 release of Avalon High: Coronation #1: The Merlin Prophecy, the first installment of a three part manga sequel to Avalon High. Written by critically acclaimed author Meg Cabot (The Princess Diaries, Avalon High, Mediator, All-American Girl, Teen Idol) with art by Jinky Coronado (Banzai Girl), Avalon High: Coronation #1: The Merlin Prophecy expands on Meg Cabot’s best-selling novel, replete with all the mythology and mysticism of Avalon High. As an added bonus for fans, the manga contains the first chapter of Cabot’s new book, Pants on Fire.

I was thinking of doing a novella, but then TOKYOPOP came along with the manga offer, and I was like: Bingo! The idea I had for the Avalon High sequel was just the right length for a manga. I must admit, I am getting more and more interested in original American "manga." I've heard good things about Avalon High, Dramacon, My Dead Girlfriend, and others. The potential for new and original stories is huge.

I've read the original Avalon High novel and am very excited about this book! I have alot of Meg's books (she also wrote Princess Diaries, various other series and one offs and some novel series for adults). Her writing is hilarious! I can't wait to see this manga.

Slightly OT: ever since Sean McKeever left Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, I've been wanting Marvel to think a little outside of the box for his replacement.

Now that she's getting her feet wet in the comic-writing world, wouldn't Meg Cabot be the perfect replacememnt on SM<3MJ
