WORLD WAR HULK #1 - ASPEN COVER
Aspen MLT has provided Newsarama with your first look at their exclusive cover to World War Hulk #1 by Michael Turner.
Click here for a preview of the first issue, due in stores on June 13th.
Aspen's release for the cover reads:
Aspen Comics is proud to announce the arrival of their latest Exclusive Variant cover for Marvel Comics epic summer event, World War Hulk #1. To celebrate the release of this red-hot limited edition cover by Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald, Aspen will be offering the title for sale throughout the convention season, starting with the world-premiere release at Wizard World Philadelphia on June 15th-17th. The book will be on sale at the Aspen Comics booth # 801, and will also be made available at Aspen’s other convention stops throughout the summer. As well, the Aspen Comics Exclusive Variant World War Hulk #1 cover will also be available for sale at Aspen’s online store www.AspenStore.com.
“Ever since we turned in the Incredible Hulk #100 cover, I’ve been wanting to tackle drawing another Hulk cover,” explained Michael Turner. “Once our variant to World War Hulk #1 was a go, I knew I had to try and outdo myself. This one sure took a while, but I think the final cover turned out great. I hope all of the Hulk fans like it as much as we do.”
Marvel Comic’s World War Hulk #1 is written by Greg Pak and features stunning artwork by industry legend John Romita Jr., as well as one enormously angry green behemoth looking to exact some revenge—Hulk-smash style! This is THE convention exclusive you do not want to miss, as past Aspen Variant Covers (Civil War #1, Civil War: X-Men #1) have sold out at record pace. Make sure you’re armed, and prepare yourself for war with this incredible variant cover!

I think his covers benefit a LOT from top-notch coloring.

Why no armor? I thought that was important for this event.
EDIT: I really like his Rogue I wish I could get a close up on her. A really great classic style for the character, but you know kinda Turner sleek.

nt bad cover, i hope sentry contributes more to this war then the civil war,
personally i don't care abt lesser heroes, or non illuminati members, just as long as there is smashing.
oh and will we see thor in this epic, cos if one guy cud pose a threat, thor cud.

VERY cool cover, and I agree with the above poster that says Turner usually gets top-notch coloring. Those colors on his covers must take hours upon hours to do.
Question: does Michael Turner ink his stuff? It looks like they darken his pencils in photoshop, and I've actually become somewhat of a fan since it works for some artists.

pfft, you think turner actually pays attention to the interiors?
see his civil war #1 cover which had spidey in the wrong costume and gambit who wasn't seen once in the entire event.
and rogue's in the wrong costume here as well.

great great cover!!
But WHY are almost all the women kinda flootinglike and the men are almost all with lowered arms, flexing muscles...
They seem kinda the same
A bit more variance in stances would improve this pic I think

It's her ReLoad (2004) costume. Which was tweaked in 2005 and dumped in 2006, and she won't even be appearing in WWH (her app. on one of the WWH:XM covers is apparently in error).

Ug.
How/Why does this guy get work on this scale? I'd swear he spends more time trying to come up with designs where he doesn't have to draw feet rather than the actual art (if you can call it that).
And what's up with the sun coming out of his butt?

Just where is Cyclops on this cover? He keeps getting less and less respect these days.

God! That's another ugly cover by Turner!
This has to be one of the most overrated artists on the US comic book market.

I don't know much, but I am 100% certain that Frank Castle and Prince Namor of Atlantis are not twin brothers.
Really. They're not.

Why is everyone's (except for Wolverine and Spider-Man) arms in the same position? And yes, also not a fan of Turner.

I think most of the characters are done beautifully in that cover. Good job. Although I too think the Hulk should have his WWH armor on.
