GEOFF JOHNS DOUBLE FEATURE - JSofA #5, SINESTRO CORPS

This week’s weekend DC preview is a Geoff John’s Double Feature of sorts, as we have early looks at pages from next week’s Justice Society of America #5 - part two of the crossover with the Justice League, and June’s Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special...

JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #5
Written by Geoff Johns
Art by Dale Eaglesham & Art Thibert
Cover by Alex Ross

Part 2 of the 5-part JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA/JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA crossover with “The Lightning Saga!” Batman and Starman break into the depths of Arkham Asylum in search of the one person who may be able to reconcile Starman's past. But with nightmares literally around every corner, that person may be dead before they reach him. Plus, a battle within the Fortress of Solitude reveals the key to it all, especially the members of the team!

The Standard Edition cover is by Alex Ross; one copy of the Variant Edition, with a cover by Dale Eaglesham, may be ordered for every 10 copies of the Standard Edition ordered. Please see the Previews Order Form for further details.

The story I have been waiting for all year. I am ecstatic about this project... Green Lantern, Sinestro, Johns and Gibbons... I am so there.

When I was reading the first page, I thought Sandman's sidekick was retcon into being Gordon. Thats what happens when you start to get ideas BEFORE reading the next page.

damn...i didn't know that what Kyle Rayner did to Sinestro in Rebirth tattooed him.

man, Sinestro must be pissed beyond belief every time he wakes up.

If the flight rings are made out of Valorium (suggesting M'onel/Valor rather than Mon-El), is that another clue as to which iteration of the Legion appears here? Or is it a melding of many old versions?

Looks awesome as always, I can't wait for either. JSA is always one of my favorites. Green Lantern has really come on as well since Reis came on.

we'll certainly find out soon enough, but i think that if you have Thom Kallor and Nura Nal, as well as Dawnstar, that it probably means, at worst, a melding of versions.

right now, i'm simply hoping for a well-executed story -- i really liked Part 1, and while i am on record as saying that Karate Kid's death was one of the powerful moments in Legion history, i'd be lying if i said that seeing him in action again in JLA wasn't cool as hell.

i've trusted Geoff Johns so many times before, and he's fixed so many bad DC decisions over the years...i have a lot of faith in whatever he's come up with.

*goes back to praying for Wildfire's return*

Kyle Rayner looks pretty hot in that preview.

Is it just a coincidence that Sinestro looks like Hitler?

Not quiet. There's seven Legionnaires lost, but the League and Society have found two; Karate Kid and Starman. They're looking for the other five (these are the five the preview refers to). Dawnstar and Dream Girl are good guesses based on the last few issues of Justice Society and with a crossover called The Lightning Saga, then I can be fogiven for guessing Lighting Lad as well. I'm afraid my knowledge of the old Legion (or pretty much any other Legion for that matter!) is almost non-existent though, so can't even hazard guesses at the other two.

In Action Comics Annual #10, written by Johns and Donner, it was revealed that the planet Daxam's sun was called Valor ....

My guesses...

Karate Kid (revealed)
Starman (revealed)
Dream Girl (shown in JSofA)
Dawnstar (arm shown in JSofA)
Lightning Lad (story title of JLofA #8)
Timber Wolf (reference of a "wolf")
Wildfire (personal hope)

Who is the artist on this issue of JSA? That art in the preview doesn't look like Eaglesham at all, unless DC is using a different inker.

I believe it's Fernando Pasarin who's handling the art on JSoA #8. he did a couple of issues of Ion before this.

Those of you guessing the Legion roster only have to read the title of the Justice League part of the story written in interlac...

And I think one of them is revealed.
