Uhm, what happened to Emissary
I haven't seen Emissary for a while I was just wodering if anyone heard if it's been cancelled or something.
I think it got of to a slow start, and the sexual interlude was a bit of a head scratcher, but this book has all kinds of potential. I hope a new issue comes out soon.

I know Rand had a bit of a falling out with Valentino. Also Juan Farreya is on full-time art duties with Rex Mundi and colouring duties on Conan and the Midnight God (which everyone should be reading btw). Those two factors have probably lead to its delay if not cancellation.

Where'd you hear that?
I didn't know Juan was coloring Midnight God. To be fair though, full time art duties on Rex shouldn't be a huge thing, its bimonthly. Also, I believe DiBartolo is filling in soon (I hope its a fill in...)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Emissary has been canceled for quite some time.
From my understanding, the orders for Issue 7 (or whatever issue they were on) were so low that they canceled the book completely, even with the issue already in the can. Sad, to say the least, since it was an extremely good read and a great book overall. Sucks that some of the best books on the market are the ones to get canceled. It was my favorite Shadowline book by far.
You can find all this information on the Image Comics forums.
And now with Crossing Midnight in danger, my whole world is going under.

I knew that they were planning on wrapping it up after the 2nd arc. The delays made me assume that it had been cancelled outright.
It's a shame, because it was a good book, although I was never sure where they were actually going with it.
Also, the quality of the paper was a bit weak. The covers tended to curl up.

Yeah sad that Rand and Ferreyra just can't get enough interest in their books. They're a pretty good team.

yup. I dropped it when I heard Rand left. Like I said in that post, I was getting it because it was the Small Gods team.
Speaking of Small Gods, how bout a volume two? That would be a sweet channukah present if I ever got one!

Sadly, I don't think we'll ever even get that because of the money it would take to do it. I got lucky and got the last issues though. These guys are great creators and deserve some friggin success. I DEMAND WE AS COMIC FANS GIVE IT TO THEM DAMN IT!

Just to end the speculation...(and also because I'm tired of the misconceptions)
Rand disappeared. No idea why, but getting a script out of him was like pulling teeth. I was contacting acquaintances of his to find out if they had heard from him, and no one had. Then I started getting e-mails from people asking ME if I knew what happened to him. When Jim finally called him, in Australia, his father answered and seemed confused as to why we were having such a problem getting a reply from him. When the scripts WERE finally turned in, he was going off on wild tangents that didn't serve the actual plot-line. Introducing characters that had no purpose, setting up a super-villain that made an army of toys to conquer Emissary...it was ridiculous, and not where the story was supposed to be going (which was that Emissary was the Anti-Christ...first he comes to save, then after seeing the ungratefulness of humanity and their war-like ways, decides to destroy). So we had to replace him.
The book was created by Jim Valentino, it wasn't a Rand/Ferreyra book. It was slated to be a 12-issue series. Unfortunately, when the new writer came in, he had quite a bit of a mess to clean up with the story to get it back on track. By then, the audience had dropped the book, and the new writer wasn't even given a chance. It's a shame, because the poor guy got blamed for everything when none of it was his fault.
There is no chance of Small Gods coming back, we tried (it was even supposed to be in color), and once again Rand flaked and blew the opportunity. Waited too long, and the buzz died. Numbers came in so low it wasn't able to be printed. It was very frustrating, and all of us had even agreed to work on the book for free. Far as I know, he's still writing Helios for Dakuwaka, but I haven't had contact with him since the Emissary debacle. If any of YOU know where he disappeared to, feel free to link him here, because if he has an explanation of why he did what he did last August, I would sure love to hear it! Juan and I were both pretty upset by it all. Juan is still on Rex Mundi, we're still in touch, and actually will have his own creator-owned book coming out from Shadowline this year (we hope, we're still discussing it).
So there's your update! No rumors, just the truth as I know it, being a person who was involved in the whole thing.

To be honest, I've only seen the cover. But it was one hell of a cover. Both Jim and I were instantly intrigued (but then again, we're huge fans of Juan's art).

wow, that's really sad. I hope Rand is Okay and gets his act together. I'd love for him to make it big and do a Small Gods vol. 2 somewhere in the far future. Anyway, I'm hoping Juan's creator owned deal sees print as well.

Well, that sucks. I didn't drop the book until it didn't show up for a couple months (I'm guessing it was already canceled at this point) but I picked up the issue with the new writer and liked it. That anti-christ ending sounds great. It's a shame it was never finished.
Anyway thanks for the response.
