OYL was the greatest idea DC ever came up with. They are going to make a fortune off of this.

A good friend of mine is getting back into comics after a few years layoff and he says that he picked the perfect time to do it with One Year Later.

That said, I knew I should've picked up Aquaman!

The Aquaman sellout doesn't surprise me. I'd expect retailers would have been relatively conservative on that one given the title's sales history, but if the 'rama is any indicator the book had a very healthy buzz by the time it hit the stands.

JSA is a mild surprise, but with a guest writer adding some uncertainty, I can see how it would happen.

Superman is a welcome surprise. He's my favorite character, and the issue was great. I love to see people have responded so strongly. Kudos to DC for putting a really top-notch team on this book.

Not a sword and sorcery fan, but man was the drastic shift a brilliant way to get people interested in Aquaman!

As to the others, Superman was a good read and I subscribe to JSA—which means, with DC's subscription service, I'll get the issue Two Years Later. I'll let you how it was then.

When will announcements of "Going Back For Additional Printing" stop being big news?

(By the way, demand for this particular message has already been so heavy, even before its initial publication, that I intend to post it again ...)

This OYL thing is a great way to jump on a series AND pump life into series that have been lagging! I'm loving it!

Just Curious but how exactly would you Want them to get the word out that a book previously unavailable will be available again.

I'm sure they could just rely on the retailer's... God knows they have HUGE advertising budgets available for just this sort of stuff. We certainly wouldn't want DC to attempt to drive customers to the stores to spend Money!

IT's called MARKETING and they do it for virtualy every product available. They're not Spamming you with the information so I just don't get the complaint. This allows people that got on board late to still be able to follow the story along with everyone else.
Here's a great idea though, if you're not interested in these announcements...Don't Read Them

Apart from Aquaman, I'm found all the OYL I've read so far very disappointing...

Just a marketing ploy IMO

JSA was ok, but nothing really different in it
Superman.... nothing to write home about
Birds of Prey... it used to be a good series until OYL

I'm just seriously worried that the Superman titles are going to take a huge nose-dive sales wise, now that Awesome's "Supreme: Supreme Sacrifice" will be out this summer, available at all comic conventions.

You're only one issue into it so it's likely to early to judge. If you haven't read it, I would recomend Detective 817. James Robinson on Batman! IMO It was the best of the lot and it was just setting up the groundwork.

I was actually not that interested in the Aquaman but I'm waiting for it to flesh out some more. I actually enjoyed the previous storylines so the whole Sword of Atlantis thing leaves me cold so far but time will tell.

It's actually more than a Marketing Ploy since it's part of the IC/OYL/52 triumvirate which will determine the DCU and FINALLY fix all the CoIE, Zero Hour, Hypertime gaffs!.

Still, it may not be fore everyone.

Entertainment Weekly

I was surprised to see Ken Tucker, one of Entertainment Weekly's senior writers, review all the OYL titles (mostly favorably). I don't know if this will be in the new issue tomorrow or just on the website, but it's great publicity.

An amusing comparison, because CNN doesn't exactly post every time the stock market changes ... just when something NEWSWORTHY occurs. Or when they need to fill space with bunk that sorta looks like news. Every time the stock market changes? -- that would be every second with every stock sale or purchase. NEWS, however, is another question.

When the comic book market started kicking up recently, it was newsy that demand was high enough to drive second printings. Now, though, that's becoming a pretty common announcement every week.

My original question -- which, by the way, did NOT imply whining, contrary to what a few overly sensitive losers might infer -- merely asked when second printings would stop being something worth reporting. I haven't seen anyone actually consider the query as presented.

Your original question asked when they would stop being "big" news. I doubt anyone actually perceives these announcements to be "big" news, so the categorization of your post as whining would still be valid. I love it when people say stupid stuff and then try to get all uppity while defending it. Just take your tired complaints and go away.

Actually, I would agree with you that they don't need to be featured on the main news page. I do think it's a good thing to list them on the sidebars, though, because it is interesting even if it's not vital.

Did you just call Paul Levitz, President and Publisher of DC Comics (as well as former writer for JSA, and the writer for the now classic "The Great Darkness Saga' in Legion of Super Heroes) a 'guest writer'??
