Couldn't agree more. It's just a matter of time until Casey is considered a top top top tier writer.

Stunning

I have loved Godland from day one, but this issue they really pulled it all together - story, art, dialog - this was a classic. They really got the "vibe" of the old Lee / Kirby Marvel - as well as the best of Kirby's '70's cosmic stuff - and kept it fresh and original at the same time. My current triumvirate of what comics should / could be goes: Godland / Atomika / Nextwave.

The Kirby-esque art looks great. But the the need to offer an entire issue online? Is this book not selling well?

I hadn't read issue 8 yet, but it like every other issue of Godland proved to be great from start to finish.

Seriously, everyone should be reading this book.

This book is all kinds of funny. I love its mixture of grandiose cosmic narratives with the bizzare and flippant. I also love the sense of history it conveys for the world on which it takes place with characters like the Tormentor.

But I have just one question, what is up with the mouse-men dressed like Superman and, it would seem, Clark Kent. I just don't get that at all. I hope that's explained.

How many copies are sold?
How many hits is this getting?

Do the numbers really hold for not taking comics online on a pay-per-use basis AS WELL AS in print?

First, I love this comic. It's unbelievable.

Second, I think a big problem is the shops. Here's a story:

I went to Shop #1 to get the collected edition. Issue #7 was out, but as I'd just jumped on board with the series I figured I'd wait to get it until reading the collected edition.

I loved it.

A few DAYS later I went back to Shop #1 to see if they still had issue #7. Sold out.

So then I went to Shop #2. Sold out.

A week later I went back to Shop #1 -- large re-order. In fact, they had every single issue in stock.

A few days later I went back to Shop #2 (for a different reason) -- still no copies of issue #7. No copies of the trade or anything other than two copies of issue #5.

I think some comics' shops are slow to pick up on this book.

Have the same problem here, the stores round these parts don't get many copies, it sells out fast, so I'm trade-bound. The first trade is super super cool, don't wanna read this preview and spoil volume 2... which'll be out soon, right guys?

I LOVE THIS BOOK!

I agree that it doesn't seem like the stores are taking too much of a chance on this one. Besides what's on people's pull lists, I don't think that they're ordering too many copies. Not that I'm blaming them. Hopefully having the first trade out will slowly change that. I want this book to stay alive for a very long time!

Better than Expected

I have bought this since Issue 4 with the full intention of dropping it quick. I just heard too much about it not to give it a read.
I hate cosmic books, as a rule. This one is VERY good. The concepts aren't THAT original, but the characters are. It's VERY funny, and VERY well-written and well-drawn. If you're not giving this book a shot, you should. It's better than a lot of other stuff out there that's outselling it.

And if you liked the free issue, you can buy the trade collecting the first 6 issues at Amazon.com for $7.25.

The trade of issues 1-6 (Hello Cosmic) came out last month to coincide with issue #7.

The book is great!

Wow a comic where something actually...happens. I didn't think they made those anymore. Bendis and his ilk would have taken this one issue and made it into six.
