[Updated] CHECKING OUT THE SPIDER-HAM

As we reported earlier, the winners of the final two Spider-Man: The Other variant covers were “Peter Parker” and “Spider-Ham.” We’ve shown pencils to the cover to the Peter Parker variant cover (which will cover Marvel Knights Spider-Man #22), and now, Marvel has provided Newsarama with a look at both the color and the sketch cover of Spider-Ham by Mike Wieringo, which will ship in a 1:8 and 1:36 ratio to retailers, respectively (though retailers have to order the color, they'll receive the sketch for free) based on initial orders for the regular edition of Amazing Spider-Man #528.

The MK Spider-Man #22 variant will be on sale January 18th, and Amazing Spider-Man #528 (both regular and regular Spider-Ham variant) have a final order cut off of January 5th.

And by the way, the MK #22 Peter Parker variant will be in color along with the others, the accompanying image is just the early stages of the final cover.

As a reminder, the “Spider-Man 2009”, “Spider-Armor”, and “Cosmic Spider-Man” ‘Ringo variants will be on sale January 11th. See our previous stories for more details.

”Wrestler Peter Parker” and “Regular Peter Parker” will be on sale January 18th, and “Spider-Ham” and its b&w sketch variant will both be in stores January 25th.

Re: CHECKING OUT THE SPIDER-HAM

I LOVE "Spider-Ham"! It was probably my favorite funny animal book back in the day. Great work, Ringo!

Wow this has really brought out the spider-ham fans. Maybe it's time to do something new with him?

Peter Parker and Wrestler don't do anything for me, I like Spider-Ham and I LOOOOOVE Spider-Man 2099 but I would have prefered Spider-Hulk, Spider-Phoenix, Spider-Carnage and Spider-Venom to name just four. Or Ricochet, Dusk, Prodigy and Hornet. Or...

Wooot Spider-ham and Spider-Man 2009!

I like the Peter Parker one, but I agree with ya on the wrestler one, I would have loved to see a Ricochet one

Marvel needs to get Jim Mahfood on a Spiderham book ASAP. He's already expressed interest in doing it...so just make it happen if it's not already in the works.

I only read a couple issues of Spider-Ham and had one issue of Captain Carrot but if they do a crossover I will pick it up even if it has thirteen tie in minis at twelve issues each with an eighteen ish follow up mini followed by a 5000 page aftermath story.

I would love a new Spider-Ham book. But I'd really love it if they brought Mark Armstrong back to do pencils. I enjoy Jim Mahfood's stuff in a everything-and-the-kitchen-sink Evan Dorkin way, but Armstrong brought such a great early animation quality to his layouts and linework that I think that sort of approach would still click.

Re: CHECKING OUT THE SPIDER-HAM

I know I am in the minority, but I feel the spider-ham pic ruins the motif.

The man may have been different under some of the costumes, but they were all decidely Spider-man. Peter Porker is a whole different character.

Just my two cents.

When's Alex Ross going to get around to his epic Spider-Ham prestige Mini-Series?
