DAN DIDIO CRISIS COUNSELING SESSION 01 - WITH SPOILERS
Note: to discuss Crisis Counseling in a Spoiler Free thread, click here.
If you saw one of Dan DiDio’s “Crisis Counseling” panels at any of the various conventions over the past year you know what’s coming. Handling questions about the build-up to the miniseries, the original Crisis, as well as Infinite Crisis itself, DiDio hit questions, concerns, and outright accusations with answers, teases, and quite often, a Cheshire Cat grin.
As previously announced, the DC Vice President and Executive Editor has agreed to handle questions about Infinite Crisis monthly, on the Wednesday during the miniseries run, a continuation of his “Crisis Counseling” sessions. While future installments will take selected questions from readers, for the inaugural session, DiDio handled questions from Newsarama.
One last thing before we start – images included in this article are from issue #1 of Infinite Crisis. The first few have already been seen, though the page with Superboy has not been seen previously. Likewise, and here’s the important part – the full sized cover to Infinite Crisis #2 (linked to via the previously-seen thumbnail below) is the full sized, actual version of Infinite Crisis #2, which can now be shown. Again – a major, major, major spoiler warning – the different cover has a spoiler to Infinite Crisis #1, so, if you don’t want to know about it, don’t click the Power Girl cover. Got it?
Onward.
Click here for the counseling session.

But I will be strong. I will wait until tonight, after I've read the book.
Thanks for the temptation Matt!

SWEET! I love the new Jim Lee cover now that we've seen it fully. I'm still waiting to see George's though.
It's now obvious that Power Girl has to be the Earth-2 Supergirl, especially at the end of the issue when it was whispered in Superman's ear that "we can save her too" or something along that vein. It's so obvious now!
Bring on the Crisis! Woot!

Yep, I have to say that I never expected to see those 4 characters ever again....
And it would explain Power Girl's origin.

Regarding the full cover to Issue #2, anyone have an idea who that guy in the gold armor is supposed to be?

Alexander Luthor. He's from an alternate Earth and first appeared in CoIE.

Yeah, he should be Alex(?) Luthor (so of a good Luthor and Lois, I think, from one of the alternate Earths), the kid who made the end of Crisis 1 possible because he was linked across the multiverse or something like that - but he should have red hair, IIRC.

Not necessarily.
Earth 2 Superman and his Lois Lane, Superboy from Earth-Prime and Alexander Luthor from CSA's Earth 3 coming back from the pocket dimension. I love it. This was one of the first things I mentioned when the whole discussing IC's possibilities started.
Quote:
ALEXANDER LUTHOR, JR.
Overview: Conceived in an alternate timeline, Alexander Luthor was born during the world-and-time-shattering event called the Crisis. In days, he was aged to adulthood due to his body consisting of both positive matter and negative anti-matter. He was one of the agents originally hand-picked by the heroic Monitor to fight the Crisis caused by the evil Anti-Monitor. With his powers, Alexander became a living portal between the positive matter and the anti-matter universes and an invaluable help for the heroes battling the Monitor. At the end of the Crisis, however, Alex realized that he was an anomaly in this universe and left this realm, never to return.
[Note: Alexander Luthor was originally the last survivor of Earth-3, the son of that world’s Luthor and Lois Lane. However, the Crisis in which he played a pivotal part changed the timeline and partly undid itself. In the new timeline, Earth-3 had never existed. Still, Alexander’s involvement is canonical. Possibly the post-Crisis Alexander Luthor came from an alternate timeline instead of a parallel Earth.]
First Appearance: (historical): Crisis on Infinite Earths #1 (April 1985)
(canonical): JLA: Incarnations #5 (November 2001)

Lets get right into it, shall we?
The line at the end of Crisis when Alex whispered in Superman's ear, "We can save her too" was in regards to Lois. Who, judging by the cover was saved.
It's very obvious Power Girl is Earth 2's Supergirl. Kinda figured that one out after Mr. Terrific said the line about the two people being the same in the same space. Earth 2 is the "lesser" universe right now (because of it's non-existence) so that's why PG has been having "power" issues.
So, the Super-family has survived. And, why do I see the multiverses coming back because of all of this?
Arrrgh.
I'm so hoping that isn't the case but they find a way to keep the Super Earth 2 family around.

I knew it. I was just telling my friend the other day that I wouldn't be surprised that if everyone who went off with little luthor at the end of coie, would come back. I am about 50 million times more excited for this series now!

See, this is what I was afraid of. The characters on that cover mean nothing to me. I tried to read the original Crisis in TPB form a year or two ago and found it tremendously ponderous (other than the art), with all the Earths and various versions of the characters and what not. I felt like I was reading a textbook. And although I was glad at the end they got rid of the "multiverse", now it looks like they're bringing it back, and if you're not a die-hard long time DCU fan this series looks like it's going to be nearly impenetrable. I hate the idea of multiple versions of the same heroes interacting with each other.
I'll still give the first issue a shot, but I think I may be better off staying away and rejoining the DCU when this is all over.

I love the cover for #2. I just wish Jim Lee drew the GA Superman symbol on Kal-L's chest. I'm curious what Perez' cover will look like.
Unfortunately, I will have to wait a few weeks to even read #1. I'm excited.

I am going to have to disagree with you a little, I am by far not a long time DC reader, I first got a glimpse during The Death of Superman and have been an on again off again reader for some time (infinite crisis will be my first DC book in 2 years). I first read crisis when I got the trade about 4 years ago. I am not sure if it is because of my love of Perez, but I fell in love with that story and all the infinite earths, (Maybe I was biased having loved Moore's Captain Britain and all the issue's of Excalibur that dealt with the Captaqin Britain Corps and the Marvel Multiverse.)
I think this book is perfect for a casual an like me (who may stick around depending on the new status quo of the DCU). Crisis to me celebrated DC's history and we're doing it once again with Infinite Crisis. The fact that the greatest hero of all time, THe Original Superman from Action #1 is in this has me excited. Even when I read the original Crisis, he gave me the sense of respect and pride and awe that superman has been lacking lately. I honestly believe he is the one saying the line dido mentioned towards the current supperman (The last time you inspired anyone was in deaht). Which is so true.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but i think the Flash who supposedly dies in Infinite Crisis is going to Be Jay Garrick of the JSA. There was an issue a little ways back where Degaton was taunting them with watching them die and he said something like Jay dies heroically. I would not be surprised if he is the Flash that dies.

Regarding #2 Cover...
I dislike the new cover to #2 immensely. Beyond the messed up up S Shield for Earth-2 Superman, Lois, a woman who is at least in her mid-sixties, is in a cheesecake pose while wearing a bathrobe with heels.
Beyond that, Infinite Crisis was really cool, but even I had trouble following everything that was going on. I can't tell if there is a mastermind behind everything, or if the thrust of the story is just about "The Worst Day in the DCU" as Didio has mentioned.

I think the "messed up s shield" is one of the telling differences between E2 superman and E1 superman. I re read CoIE this week and i noticed this again.
I just read the issue #1. i think the socitiey captures ray to compensate for the loss of firestorm. Does damage look dead? the other's are pretty final, but we don't see Damage's body.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET GOTHAM CENTRAL #37!!! you should be getting that book anyway, but this will be one of the biggest missed ordered books.
When i saw the Earth 2 people in shadow i thought it was the LoSH! i completely fell for it.
love it.
