360ep's ADVENT RISING #1 DOUBLES PG. COUNT/SAME CVR. $
Press Release
Everything’s Double but the Price …
360ep to publish first issue of Advent Rising as a double-issue comic for a single issue price
Plus a retailer incentive program - alternative cover by Greg Horn
August 22, 2005 – 360ep, publisher and full-service entertainment property management company, today announced plans to release the first issue of its highly anticipated comic book Advent Rising, based on the Majesco Entertainment’s electronic gaming title of the same name, as a double-issue at a single-issue price. Advent Rising #1, set to ship in October, will sell for $2.25.
“This is our first book and the creative team did an amazing job, so we wanted to do everything we could to get a lot of copies into circulation. That meant coming up with something special for readers and retailers. 64 pages for $2.25 is a very good value and delivers enough of the story so that readers can really start to enjoy the Advent Rising Universe,” explains Bill Jemas, CEO of 360ep, “and, for retailers, there is an alternative cover promotion (one free copy for every five issues ordered).”
Advent Rising editor Teresa Focarile adds, “While the company is taking an aggressive marketing approach offering a 64-page book at such a low price, I believe the quality of the editorial supports our decision and I see this as a win-win situation for everyone: 360ep is able to tell more of the story, thereby interesting more readers into buying future issues; fans get more bang for their buck; and retailers, instead of selling the issue at the no-profit 25¢ (a price that first-time comic books are sometimes sold at), get to reap a profit on each book sold.
The Advent Rising Team includes Rob Worley (Young Ancient One), writer; Arthur Dela Cruz (BFX, Kissing Chaos), layouts; Bill Jemas (Marvel) plot outline; Cliff Richards (Rogue, Birds of Prey, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), pencils; Dennis Crisotomo (Emma Frost), inks; and Cris DeLara (Thundersaurs, Serenity), colors. Noted artist Greg Horn delivered the alternate cover art.

Advent Rising, released by Majesco Entertainment, is the first in an epic trilogy of sci-fi action games for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft and the PC platform. Working with award-winning science fiction author Orson Scott Card, developer GlyphX Games has created a gripping adventure that thrusts gamers into a continuously evolving series of sequences and events that unfold in an incredible intergalactic saga.

Because there was no joke, just a snarky remark.
Cool it.

Actually, it was just a joke.. the game was somewhat enjoyable, and Card is a good writer.. hence, a joke. If someone was offended.. I guess I apologize.

Cool, more pages same price. I am glad I put it on my comiclist. Now I hope it is as good as the videogame.

I wonder if the fact that it's "a double-issue at a single-issue price" has anything to do with the fact that the game completely and utterly bombed sales-wise on the Xbox since its release two months ago (and the PC version hasn't been critically well-recieved either). Heck, it lost so much money that Majesco even had to cancel AR's contest. Now...this move by 360ep kinda seems like a close-out sale, perhaps even a write-off.

Actually, the contst was cancelled because they couldn't send the downloads out all at the same time.
Yes, the game did bomb, but it wsan't a complete wreck. It was just too simple and fell far short of the hype and programmers' idea.
And what does Mormonism hve to do with humans discovering their latent superpowers?

Wasn't that, more or less, the premise of the original Battlestar Galactica?
