SHANNA, THE SHE-DEVIL #6

Frank Cho and Marvel have provided Newsarama with a six page preview of Shanna, the She Devil #6, the penultimate issue of the miniseries.

The solicitation for the issue reads:

THE STORY: It’s eye-popping action from cover-to-cover as Shanna stumbles into the middle of a mass migration of razor-toothed raptors, each of which would love to make her an afternoon snack, and has to slice her way to freedom!

32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$3.50

The issue is due in stores on July 6th.

This miniseries has looked and read like a Hollywood summer blockbuster - fun, fast-paced, a little tongue-in-cheek, with a few quiet moments where something is said or shown about human nature.

Also, Jason Keith is a magnificent colorist - ever since he came onboard, the artwork has jumped from merely pretty to simply gorgeous.

Having said that, I still hope that Marvel releases the "Director's Cut" version of the trade for this series, and allow people to see it as Cho initially intended it.

I'm quite enjoying this series. My only complaint is that I've found it slightly repetitive in places. I'm kinda wishing I'd waited for the trade rather than buying it monthly.

Personally, I am enjoying this series. However, considering Marvel's self censorship on the content, I wish Cho had just renamed the character and released it elsewhere.

As much as I am enjoying the series and the story is a lot of popcorn fun, I am still shaking my head at the fact that I'm nevah gonna see those breasts. Damn. It shouldn't ruin my appreciation of the story, right? But why does it? Argh. I....argh.

Keep buying it and tell your friends too...Frank has stated if it sells well the "unedited" version will come out.

There is nothing to say against the brilliant art, but the plot is very weak. You could tell the story in one issue, it is just a slugfest for the eyes. I am a little bit disappointed and if there is no plot twist in issue six you will find my issues at Ebay.

The atmosphere reminds of the one in Shaolin Cowboy, don't you think?

I've enjoyed the series so far. It's full of action and fun to read. Of course, I only buy it for the stories.

Why wouldn't Marvel put it under the MAX titles and leave it alone... ?
Also, I thought they got rid of the Marvel Code? I'm confused...

There's no way in hell she can be comfortable doing all those acrobatics with that thong jamming up her ass.

it might become a movie-license and tooning it down (no more nudity) it gets more profile and bigger sales since more audiences can be reached

actually he said somthing along the line off:

"if sales are good Marvel might release an unedited version"

not set in stone, so I do not want you to get your hopes up too high!!

Frank merely said that high sales will make the release of an unedited version more of a possibility

*Yawn*

I just came back from the Superman Homepage where I read a review of the latest issue of Lex Luthor-Man of Steel. The cover has Lex holding a lady, who looks like she was photomanipped from some porn pic, and Lex is copping a very, not so subtle, FEEL on her.

I looked at the cover pic to issue six up here, and it looks like the frickin' dino is copping a feel on Shanna. I could just be reading into it, seeing as how I just saw an obvious grope, but I don't think so given the track record of this book so far.

I've seen the book, read it a bit at the LCS. Sorry, it's nothing but bubblegum and T&A. This stuff is a dime a dozen anymore boys. I'm too grown up to be fantasizing over some half naked jungle lady getting groped by every guy she "falls on" and bi-specie dinosaur that digs chicks with red hair.

I like the female form as much as the next guy. But it'll take more than that to get me to drop good $ on that book when there's LOTS better reads out there.

Again, I'm not knocking anyone who buys it, or Frank's art. Frank's awesome. If that's your thing, then buy it.

Just cracks me up is all...

Nice nice previews! This series has been a good read in it's own way.

People seem to keep gravitating to how Cho draws his females, and overlooking everything else that makes his art stunning.

He as a great eye for detail, but he doesn't overdo it with too many lines or too much cross-hatching. His characters faces are very expressional, but not overly cartoonish looking. Cho seems to be able to strike a perfect balance.

Very, very weak comic.

No plot whatsoever. Repetitive. Predictable. You can read an issue in 2 minutes. The intrusive coloring manages to bring down even Cho´s art (the black and white pages look much better than the colored pages).

The only reason to read the comic (Cho´s art - and narrative) is killed by the colorist, so what´s the point? There´s no reason to read this at all.

Hey, I never said I had a problem with it. Just pointing out Shanna's obviously got some masochistic tendencies.

Man, Ka-Zar is one lucky dude.

I need some fanboy help here. I'm all bout artist's rights and all that, but EVERY time someone shows a Shanna preview, about 30 people get up and say, "it should've been MAX!" or "i hope they put out the director's cut, it's the way Cho wanted it..." Which gives me 2 big questions.

1) They CLEARLY didn't tone down the violence, so are all these people just tryin to check out Shanna naked?

2)If that's the case - are you really THAT much more interested in her by removing and itsy-bitsy teeny-weenie piece of cloth covering up, essentially, a pink circle?

3) Or if there's more, if there's some story thread i don't know about that had to be cut - please let me know! Cho's art is AMAZING, and the women are hot enough with their clothes on! Why not make it so more people can read / buy / enjoy it?
