PEEK: JIM LEE RED SONJA COVER

Dynamite has provided Newsarama with a preview peek at Jim Lee’s cover to the upcoming Red Sonja Anniversary issue, coming, reportedly, later this year.

“We’re very fortunate that Jim was able to work this into his schedule,” Dynamite Spokesperson J. Allen said in a release. “Jim is a very busy guy, but he was able to do squeeze in a cover for our main Sonja series and it ROCKS! With our delays in getting Red Sonja out on time, we thought this was a good opportunity to give the fans something “dynamite” to look forward to, especially with issue #4 hitting the stands this week, and with #5 and #6 hitting in February. We felt this was a good time to remind the fans that we’re going to keep our promise of catching up on our schedule beginning with issue #4. For those fans who have been patiently waiting, we can only say thank you.”

NIce cover.

Now lets see if Dynamite will get back on schedule. We were promised the series would be on schedule in November.

I'll say one thing for Lee, he's a master of the female form. Redhead, chain-mail bikini, huge bloody sword, mmmm there's no bad here.

looks good as usual...still, though, I don't understand the character's appeal other than looks.

Looks awesome, as usual, Mr. Lee.

I'm curious, does this mean Jim Lee isn't exclusive to DC anymore?

I know Jim is a busy guy, but can we get a background on this cover?

Can anyone tell me what is going on with her right hand? I'm sure Jim was trying to make it look interesting, but when I try that grip it's completely akward.

How about Lee drawing an entire Red Sonja book and not just the cover?

Holy smokes troll-bait! I've seen Jim Lee draw both Superman and the Goddamn Batman in just that same pose! Seriously, get a grip; even if you don't like Jim Lee, you gotta admit he is a master when it comes to covers/splash pages/various dynamic poses.

As for my thoughts on the cover-nice! Maybe a background to the pic will be added, but I'll check out the book when it hits regardless. Anyone know who the artist for the anniversary special will be?

Says in the article it's a preview peek, so that means (to me anyway) the drawing's not finished yet.

Yup, the background definately looks blacked out. Either its covering a surprise background or it was still sketchy back there so they chose not to show it 'til its done.
