DABEL BROTHERS JOIN WITH PARTIBLE & GREVIOUX TO FORM DPG VISIONS

Press Release

DB Production joins with Partible, Grevioux to announce DPG Visions

Legacy the animated series. Marshal the movie. Imperial Dragons the video game.

All within the realm of possibility over the next year.

Dabel Brothers Production (DBPro) announced today that it will be joining forces with Independent Producer Leo Partible and Underworld creator / producer / star Kevin Grevioux to form DPG Visions, a studio geared at developing properties for the entertainment industry.

"We’re extremely excited to be a part of this studio, and we’re looking forward to seeing our original projects developed for TV, film, and video games," said Les Dabel, New Business Director and Vice President of DBPro. "Things are moving very quickly already, thanks to the experience and enthusiasm of Leo and Kevin."

"Our comic books will be more cinematic in style, reflecting the nature of the medium as a natural transition between literature and film," said Los Angeles-based Partible, who is developing a comics-to-film project with Adrian Askarieh and Chuck Gordon (producers of the upcoming Spyhunter movie, starring The Rock) "Our initial projects will focus on the action-adventure genre, horror, and family-friendly fare."

Titles under development include the Dabel Brothers creations Gemini and the sci-fi Marshal; Grevioux’s Anti-Heroes and Spiral, an angels-versus-demons saga; Scott Kinney’s Killer Stunts, Inc., and Partible’s The Trouble With Grrrls!, the comic book version of his planned rock n’ roll film. Partible is also writing and drawing a sci-fi/superhero saga that combines the influences of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien to iconic DC Comics mythology and ‘60s Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

"Everyone from George Lucas to J.K. Rowling to Neil Gaiman draws from the same wellspring: The Inklings," said Partible, "a writer’s group of which C.S. Lewis and Tolkein were members. Our aim is to continue that tradition."

One notable plus about DPG Vision: all of its founding members share a common Christian worldview.

"There was a time where openly Christian men and women couldn’t find work in the entertainment industry," said Ernst Dabel, Editor-in-Chief and President of DBPro. "But times have changed, and people are looking for answers that go beyond what they can discover for themselves. We’re not here to judge people or to bash them over the head with religion; we’re just looking to share our ideas - and our faith - through the stories we tell. That’s been one of the founding principles of DBPro since we began publishing comics, and it is a view that we at DPG Visions have all had in common."

More information about DB Production and DPG Visions will be posted by early 2004 on the official Dabel Brothers website at http://www.dabelbrothers.com

Well, this is good news indeed! The Dabel Brothers have had my support from the beginning (with great products backed by a great strength of character!), and I've also recently been won over to Kevin Grevioux after reading the Underworld novel and seeing the previews for the film (which hasn't been released in Australia yet) ....

Of the group, I must admit that I'm unfamiliar with Leo Partible, but he will probably benefit from the association - if the above mentioned guys are with him then I will most likely enjoy his stuff too. Here's looking forward to further announcements and more good stuff from these guys. I wish them ALL the best!!!

Well, I couldn't say for certain, but in the past I've heard reports from Christians in the entertainment industry who had to keep their religion and their politics to themselves for fear of losing their jobs or being blacklisted from future jobs.

Whether that fear was founded or not, I couldn't say. But the fear was very much real.

I think since 9-11 it's become a little more 'acceptable' in Hollywood to be more openly conservative, pro-America, pro-military, pro-christianity. Of course, you still get your typical character assassins on you once you do 'come out' as a conservative/Christian. Look at Mel Gibson. For all of his career people in the media just adored him. Once he started putting together his movie about the crucifixion of Christ, the liberal media started attacking him, digging stuff up about his father being anti-semetic, blah blah blah.

Just one example. It's funny but 9-11 seemed to unite us for a while, but that wore off and it seems like it cauterized many peoples beliefs, and made us more divisive on the whole.

Not that I want to turn this into a political debate, but that's my answer to your question.

We will likely benefit from our association with Leo even more. Leo Partible (if that last name sounds familiar, it's because his brother Van created Johnny Rocket and you've probably seen his credit on the cartoon) is a Hollywood insider. He's got more connections than AT&T. He'll be getting our comics and our screenplays into the hands of people who can make movie deals with a wink and a nod. Some serious power players on his list of associates. Producers, Directors, Actors, financiers... All the people you need to make movies come true.

It's kind of an inside joke around here: Everybody knows Leo, and Leo knows everybody.

Soon, you'll know him too.

That is just incredible news. I have been good friends with Les while he was just dreaming up Roaring Studios and I tell you, these guys have achieved so much. Raw ambition, talent and sacrifice will go along way and these guys have truly proved that.

I wish them the best and maybe Les can slide Leo some of my ideas for film....MUAHAHAH!! You know what I'm talkin' bout Les!

Also, I don't want to sound racist, but it is great to get sommore variety in color in the entertainment industry creatively, it isn't really a big thing, but it just is nice to see!

I must say, when I read Kevin's interview a while back, I had a wish that I could show him my ideas. HE seems to think in a similar way as I do. Looks like my wish just might come true!

Peace,

Thanks for the info on Leo, Mike .... The surname did sound somewhat familiar, but the first name didn't, so I had been a little curious about that. Here's hoping for some good stuff from all of you guys over the next few years .... I'm sure you'll deliver!

The company has so much enthusiasm and spirit ... I think its highly refreshing It's also a great recepie for success.

Question Info on Leo Partible

Some information on Leo Partible (the "P" in "DPG Visions").

Leo was recently interviewed in a nationally syndicated column about comics and their place in the media and culture:
http://www.sastandardtimes.com/sast/...412696,00.html

A small bio for Leo on the Act One Web site:
http://www.actoneprogram.com/faculty.shtml

LEO PARTIBLE
Leo is a principal partner at Great Rift Entertainment. He was previously vice-president of Creative Affairs at Takoma Entertainment where he set up and developed products such as Shadowman with Ice Cube for New Line Cinema, Harbinger, in association with Jan De Bont’s Blue Tulip Productions and Magnus: Robot Fighter for Warner Bros.

My pal Leo is a very humble fellow and wouldn't assume to tell you folks all about himself, but I will!

His brother, Van Partible, is the creator of Cartoon Network's Johnny Bravo--which is heading for the big screen as a Universal picture (with Van acting as a producer). More info on Van:

Wink One More Bit

You can find out more about Leo Partible on a segment of NPR's Morning addition. He's interviewed along with Ralph Winter (producer -- X-MEN, X2, PLANET OF THE APES, the upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR) and Karen Hall (Executive producer -- JOAN OF ARCADIA). Click on this link and listen to the interview:

http://discover.npr.org/features/fea...l?wfId=1126769

I'm going to ask Leo for a job as his agent now!

Really, Leo is one the biggest ambassadors for comic books (not just to exploit, but to BUY AND READ THEM) in LA-LA land. Now he'll be developing a few...should be fun.
