STEVE RUDE'S MOTH LIVES @ DARK HORSE

According to his latest e-mail newsletter, Steve Rude’s The Moth is a go – in at least two formats - at Dark Horse. Rude’s newsletter reads:

THE MOTH

Dark Horse will be publishing the first issue of THE MOTH as a special edition trade paperback. It will include a 42 page story plus the original 1998 Dark Horse Presents 8 page story as well as pages from Steve's sketchbook and anything else they could find to throw in there. They are currently getting ready for promotion, but have not given us the release date yet. Also, as far as I know the issue with Marvel has not been resolved and Dark Horse has not requested that Steve make any changes to the Logo. Posters and a 10 page prelim are currently available online in our eBay store.

NEW PROJECTS

Dark Horse contracted 4 issues of the Moth in addition to the special edition story, so he's hard at work on that.

I love The Dude and will pretty much buy anything he works on. Somehow I missed the Moth story in DHP when it was first published. I still miss Nexus. Every so often I will pull out a bunch of Nexus back issues and read through them. The stories still hold up too.

Steve Rude remains the only artist in comics whose work I will buy regardless of who is writing.
He's the best story-teller in comics, bar none. And if that weren't enough, his linework and detail are as good as anybody in the business.

Of course, working with the likes of Mike Baron, Dave Gibbons and others just makes the total package that much more enjoyable.

I'm looking forward to this.
Hopefully we can get some Nexus trades published next. Sure, I'm only 20 issues from completing the run, but I'd rather have that series collected anyway.

Not much to add here, but......this should be good. Looking forward to it.

Moth Trades, Yeah!

Any Dude news is good news. Luckily, DH does a good job of keeping good books traded. I'll probably break down and buy the series, rather than wait for the trade like I do with most Marvel/DC stuff.

Now if only Marvel would trade his recent Spider-Man stuff. His Thor stuff by Bruce Jones hasn't come out yet, has it? Or am I confused?

I believe Steve has finished all the Marvel work he had in the pipeline.

He completed Thor: Godstorm, with Kurt Busiek a long time back. It was pretty good.
and he did a Captain America series, What Price Glory, with Bruce Jones most recently.

The Cap story was really weak, imo, but the pictures sure were pretty.

Still, if Marvel ever feels like putting out a Steve Rude Visionaries book, with those titles, Spider-Man: Lifeline and the short Fantastic Four story he drew, I'm sure I'd pick it up anyway.

Good for Steve Rude! I can NEVER get enough of his work and I've been a fan of his since the early '80's when Nexus was published tabloid style by Capital.

I will be sure to pick up The Moth.

Steve, if you're reading, is there any chance that you'll have some projects come out from Marvel or DC?

Anyway, has anyone seen the Nexus animated cartoon or series? Does anybody know how I can get a copy? Please e-mail me if you do!

It looks as though Dark Horse has the backbone that Image lacked. We all now Image buckled under pressure from Marvle saying the Moth's logo looked too much like the Punisher logo. Because someone might get them confused...Except for the wings...well, and that one guy has those guns...oh, and the one guy has a mask...
Go Dude!

Steve Rude is one of the best storytellers in the business, and a damn fine artist to boot. It's great to see THE MOTH take flight at Dark Horse, and I hope this one-shot leads to bigger and better things for the character and its creator - they sure do deserve it.

I certainly won't have a problem distinguishing Steve's book from the Punisher on the salesrack. You couldn't pay me to buy the Punisher that Marvel is publishing these days.
