WAKE THE DEAD: MILX OUT, CHEE IN

Wake the Dead #2, page 6After earlier confirming that original series artists Milx has been removed from the upcoming Steve Niles-written miniseries Wake the Dead, IDW has confirmed Milx’s replacement on the series, the artist named Chee.

Chee’s art can be seen on a few pages of Wake the Dead #1, and below. According to IDW’s Editor in Chief Jeff Mariotte, Travis Walton will continue as colorist, and the bi-monthly miniseries will not miss any ship dates.

Just recapping, IDW and Niles describe the series as:

Wake The Dead is just what happens when Victor discovers a way to reverse the death process. Doing so he starts a whole new way of living that can only be described as “death defying.”

"Basically Wake The Dead is a re-telling of ALL the Frankenstein stories I've ever read, or watched. It's like a story created out of the bits and pieces of other stories, so in a way, Wake The Dead is a Frankenstein monster all its own," says Niles. "I wanted to capture the essence of the original book as far as the youth of the characters and the price paid for playing God, but I think we've still managed to create an original and really freaky story."

Maybe he can also replace Milx on Silver Surfer until we find out what has happened to him...

I liked it better when artists were named Kirby, Ditko, and Romita.

All this Milx, Chee, and Udon is confusing ...

This guy must have some quickness. Is he working solo with no inker? The background work is amazing. Hope to see more of his work in the future.

I was about to say the same thing. It looks pretty amazing. I wonder if they have anymore info as to where this guy is from and what he used to do before.

No, it's me too. The B&W art has that genuine horror look to it.

So, wait. Let me get this straight. Issue one is going to have art by Milx and Chee?

Does Evan Dorkin know about this?

I'm beginning to wonder if either of these artists exist at all. Milx is M.I.A. and Chee, just Chee no other information. The IDW hype-machine at work. It's NuIDW!

Boycott, boycott, boycott!

Good stuff! I was going to check out "Wake The Dead" anyway, but I like what I'm seeing at Chee's site.

Is it just me, or did his Reed Richards on the FF painted cover look like Harrison Ford?

It is Harrison! And that looks like Cameron Dias next to him. Nice work on the site Chee; The Silence of the Lambs pic is my favorite.
