CAPTAIN AMERICA #6
Marvel has released preview pages from Captain America #6, a June 1st release and pivotal concluding chapter in the “Out of Time” story arc that promises to reveal the identity of the mysterious “Winter Soldier”, who Marvel promised in Wizardworld LA would become a new "mainstay" villain in the Marvel Universe, causing problems everywhere he goes.
Written by Ed Brubaker and penciled by Steve Epting, here’s how Marvel describes the issue.
”Who killed the Red Skull? Who is the mystery assassin we have yet to see? This issue answers those questions and more! The hunt for the killer of the Red Skull takes a bizarre turn and Steve Rogers' life turns with it. Shattered fragments of Cap's past are called into question by new memories that keep flooding his mind. Is someone playing mind games with him, or has he been in the dark about certain events for years? Only a trip to the scene of his most devastating failure will answer that question.
Part 6 of 6. 32 PGS. T+ Suggested for Teens and Up $2.99 For much more on this storyline and the Winter Soldier, check out our recent interview with Ed Brubaker by clicking on the link, and click on the following thumbnail images to read larger versions of the pages.

This one of best super hero comics going right now! I can't wait for this issue! or the next story arc for that matter. With Bendis leaving DD I hope they give it to Brubaker!

I am enjoying this book, I don't buy it, but i read my brothers copies, i could never get into Captain America, because he seemed too, well american for me, but this series has given him some serious doubt and depth, making it much more intriguing than the same ols 'sentinal of liberty' or the crappy 'real world' MK series.

Captain America is one of the best books that I'm reading right now. I thought Kirkman's run was fun but Brubaker has really made Cap shine so far. Great stuff.

One of the best books out right now, we lose SLEEPER, but get the best Captain America has ever been in return, seems like a fair trade to me

In just a few short issues Brubaker & Epting (and a little Michael Lark) have made Cap a must read again. I hope that they stay around for a long while.

I'm enjoying this title as well. I didn't buy the previous volume.
Visually this volume doesn't seem that much different from the previous Cap (both dark, gritty, and realistic), but Brubaker's writing has separated this volume from its predecessor. Epting and crew have also been doing top notch work.
Keep up the good work!

This truly is the best book Marvel is publishing right now. Just phenomenal stuff.
If Brubaker has a long run on Captain America, someday we're going to look at his treatment of the character in the same way we look at Miller on Daredevil, PAD on Hulk, Wolfman/Perez on Titans, Simonson on Thor. It's the perfect tone, the perfect approach, and so good it redefines the character as he always should have been treated.

I really hope it's not Bucky!
I've been reading Cap every month for 15 years. Brubaker's run is the best stuff since the Bloodstone Hunt (that was a fun story!). I just hope that the Winter Soldier is not Bucky. Everything points to it though... Brubaker wouldn't be that obvious, would he? I've been racking my brain to figure out who else in Cap's past it could be. The suspense is killing me!

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. I love this book. It's at the top of the stack every month. I can't wait for this one. Brubaker is without a doubt in my mind the best writer in comics today. Epting and Lark are just doing some amazing artwork too. The only downside is that it isn't being released until June 1st, which means I won't get it until the end of the month. There is a downside to using mailorders...
It'll DEFINITELY be worth the wait though.

I knew this relaunch was going to be good. Historically, I've never been a big fan of Cap solo. I've always liked in the Avengers where his focal point was as leader and his relationships with the other Avengers. That is really where IMO Captain America has really shined in the past. NO one has really been able to make him an interesting solo character to me, but this arc sounds really promising.
I haven't read it yet. I didn't have room to add it to my pull list when it first came out and it is too late for me to jump on, so I am just waiting for the trade and I will be picking it up as soon as it comes out. But the wait is excruciating.

As I have said many times before... Winter Soldier better not be bucky. I'll be upset if it is, especially with JT coming back in Batman. It'll seem cheesy.
However, Brubaker has been doing a great job on this title. I really really hope that he goes to Daredevil..

...Ok, I revise my theory. It's Zemo Sr's brain, implanted in a Bucky clone body pumped full of Super-Soldier formula syphoned from Nomad's corpse.

I've been thorougly enjoying the Brubaker/Epting (and occasionally Lark) run so far. However, if Bucky is indeed the Winter Soldier (which I hope is not the case), I'm sure that Brubaker has a darn good explanation about it all.
Personally, my vote is that it's none other than Baron (Helmut) Zemo.
