Not too crazy about the darker colors
But although it is completely redundant, I kind of like the "s" on the belt.

While I like the idea that they're using the original costume, only with tweaks, I don't like the choice of colors. The deep scarlett don't match the blue. And that's a shame. In this scheme I would've liked a brighter red, or a deeper blue. I always loved the suit Superman wore during Exiled. The dark colors, and the golden instead of blue. So, I love the golden.
I mean look at Spider-Man. Basically they got the same blue and red, but in the Movie Spider-Man looked a lot better composed, than Supes does.
Oh yeah, love the belt as a whole. That's a nice one.
Hopefully this'll look better on the screen.

Not too crazy about this. The colors don't match up at all. They need to make the red brighter, then this would be a good costume.

Oh boy...
Wow, see, this look flew in the 70s/80s because, well, it was the 70s/80s. Today, after seeing Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man and so on, I must say, this Supes looks like he's from a certain SNL skit more so than a brand-new Superman film.

Oh, and as for colours, it should've been a darker blue and a lighter red.

This movie looks like a dud plotwise and by the costume.
I do not want to watch a Superman film that deals with his personal journey of acceptance and lost love.
The costume looks like the George Reeves Superman with a little tweeking in the emblem and belt.

I like the logo and the belt, but not crazy about red becoming burgundy for the cape and boots

*sigh* Here I go jumping on the fanboy complaint wagon.
The only prob I have is that the "S" is a little too small, other than that the suit rocks!!

MMMM...
The costume is not bad, a little too dark, maybe. I prefer brighter colors with Superman, he must shine. But it is elegant. A clever move to try something different from Chris Reeves'. Less impressive than the Christian Bale's Batsuit, anyway, but he looks the part.

If the S shield were bigger with a darker blue and as stated previously a brighter red...It would've worked.
If they wanted to be different they should've used the Kingdom come Supes outfit...
I'll wait to see it on screen before I judge it though.

This is total shit, the red look's more like brown, and the chest symbol is way to small to really make any kind of impact..
I was really looking forward to this movie, but after seeing this costume i dont think i could watch it without laughing.

I'm going to have to see it on screen, in scene, outside of a sound-stage to tell you exactly how I feel. I do agree with most here that the red is too dark and could be a good bit brighter. And the shield should have been much larger. at least 25% larger.

* horrible choice in the shade of colors
* the S symbol on the chest is too small
* the actor still looks too skinny. I think he might actually be smaller than Dean Cain, when they needed to move back to a George Reeves style. You know.... a MAN, not an overgrown college student.

I agree. The "S" needs to be larger and more prolific than it is...
Otherwise, a nicely done costume.

Costume
The Superman costume will always look gay no matter what one does to represent it in the real world. You have to admit that. I mean, Christopher Reeve looked gay. It's blue tights with read underwear. Regardless, I don't think it looks so much different from the original. Yeah. The colors are shaded darker. Who cares? I'm still looking forward to seeing the movie.
Nyah!

Don't like the colors, the size of the S and Routh looks wimpy as hell in the pic.

I think it looks okay... We're SO used to the regular colours that anything else is bound to look a bit odd at first. I think with movie lighting it could work quite well.
The suit could do with nipples to make it more 'NOW' though

It may look better on the big screen but based on what I've heard and seen of the movie so far I doubt I'll be coming within a hundred feet of any theatre showing it. Considering that I was until recently a huge Supes fan this is quite a sad state of affairs.

sorry to be a troll...
hahahahahah
oh man
i don't mind the dark red or the smaller body frame
but underwear...still?
i'm not the best person to judge this
i'm not the biggest superman fan in general but...underwear?
does anyone else think that warner bros. or whomever
didn't allow singer to adjust the costume very far from the original,
and that hes just being cool about it in the interviews?

This picture officially killed any desire to see this movie.
Just a thought... maybe Superman should work out a little.
Also... is his torso VERY long?
