It's been a bad couple weeks around the world.
This news makes the world a bit poorer and bit sadder.

At least he was able to say something many of us never will be able to: "I changed the way the world looked at things".
No small feat.

For that I thank him for the ride that he took us on.

Condolences to Mr. Eisner's near & dear.

Rest in Peace

I had a chance to meet and interview Will Eisner not too long ago.

The think I will remember most about Will how he was a Don Quixote of the comics.

His passing is profound.

Man, this really, really sucks. Eisner was an inspiration to all creators. My thoughts go out to his friends and family.

Horrible.

Sad news, indeed. The whole comics world has lost a friend. And one of the three most influential creators ever.

Peace to his family and friends.

Certainly one of the most inventive visual storytellers ever in the medium. There are levels of performance from Will Eisner that have yet to be matched -- he was one of the few who seemed to truly understand what was required to meaningfully integrate words and pictures.

A sad sad day indeed.

I hope anyone that hasn't taken the opportunity to appreciate his work will do so.

A tragic loss. I met Mr. Eisner at a NYC con and he was pleasant and accomodating. He will be missed.

I'm just crushed by this news. I didn't know him well, but I've been a fan for about twenty years. I've had the privelege of meeting him just a couple of times, most recently having dinner with him and a few friends only about six weeks ago when he spoke at a Jewish community center here in Atlanta. He was kind, funny, searingly intelligent, and totally on top of what's been happening in the industry. It may be a cliche, but he really made all of us believe that he had another twenty years of great work in him.

I don't really know what else to say other than this: Whether you knew him or his fantastic body of work or not, we've all lost a good friend today.

This is terrible. Will Eisner was such a nice man and in my mind one of the most important artists ever in comics. I was able to meet him this summer in San Diego. He signed a few autographs for me and shook my hand and had a big smile for me. When I told him how much I liked 'A Contract With God' he acted like he hadn't heard it a million times before, like I was the first person who'd told him that, and seemed very pleased that a younger person would like that material. He was a special individual.

God Bless you Will.

Whoa, this is tough, I know he's lived a full life but I was so used to seeing his work come out over the years, I've always been impressed with his work. Its a sad day, my condolences to the Eisner family and friends.

On behalf of Dynamic Forces, Nick Barrucci offers the following words of condolence on this sad, sad news:

"This is heart wrenching news. Our industry has lost one of our great leaders. Will Eisner was a pillar of the comics community, and one of the greatest men to have graced our industry. The man created work that will be forever unmatched, but that we will all be able to enjoy forever. He is the bar that we should all shoot for, not just in this industry of ours, but as people. His career speaks for itself.

You will be missed Will.

You will be missed."

I actually met him in San Diego a few years ago (in line at lunch!) - the day after he won his 1st Eisner, actually. Very very nice guy.

What a big loss to the comic book field. RIP, sir.

I only got to talk to the man but I've been a fan of his work since I was 20 years old and first discovered The Spirit. His passion for the medium was apparent in every line he drew up until the end.

He was a true master, a legend and he will be dearly be missed.
