BULLSEYE: GREATEST HITS #1
Marvel has provided Newsarama with seven pages from the September-shipping Bullseye: Greatest Hits #1 by Daniel Way, with art by Steve Dillon and covers by Mike Deodato Jr.
The five issue miniseries will finally tell the origin of the character, who first appeared in Daredevil #131, written by Marv Wolfman. Perhaps second only to Wolverine in his sketchy personal history (the pre- Origin Wolverine, that is), very little about Bullseye’s past has ever been revealed, save for that he gave up a professional baseball career in lieu of becoming a soldier and then a mercenary who discovered he had not only a knack for killing enemies, but dead-on aim as well.
In his time, Bullseye has battled Daredevil on numerous occasions, most memorably following Daredevil #181 where the villain killed Elektra.

This looks like a cool series. Bullseye has always been a clever character and Steve's pencil are smooth!

I really wasn't going to order this but man that artwork looks beautiful!
The colour pic of Bullseye by Steve Dillion would make a damn nice poster, shame he wasn't on cover duties too.

Re: BULLSEYE: GREATEST HITS #1
Steve Dillon is great. His style is so "natural", that seeing him draw costumed superheroes is always a unique treat.
Big thumbs down to everyone at Marvel involved in the corporate decision making process to change Bullseye's "look" to match the movie. Boo, I say.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure his "sketchy" history was covered completely in the original Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe.

I just hope Marvel doesn't pull the carpet out from under Daniel Way on this project.

Bullseye LS
I'm all over this one. I really like Dillon's art as well. Got used to having my fix when he was doing PREACHER. Miss that book, damn. Anyhoo, this looks VERY VERY cool. Marvel wouldn't do a carpet trick on Way twice, now would they??

i agree with the previous poster, shame on marvel for changin his look to tie in with the crappy movie. it should be the other way around (movies tryin to look like the comic, not comics lookin like movies.) aside form this thought the book looks pretty cool

It's not a tattoo, it's carved into his head. If they do put him back in costume, that will be the only time I welcome a costume coming back.

Gun Theory
Happy to see Daniel Way back on board... I'm still bummed that Gun Theory was cancelled after two issues...

Man, I really hate that silly scar on his forehead. I hated it in the movie too. Love Steve Dillon though, so I'm gonna check this out.
Is it me, or is it sort of strange to see Dillon on a project without Garth Ennis?

Dillon's art, as always is great, and I just might pick this up. I haven't been impressed with Daniel Way's stuff in the past except for that two issue story arc "Good Cop, Bad Cop," in Wolverine a while before Wolverine moved to the Marvel Knights and Rucka got his claws in him. Can anyone recommend something else Way has done to push me off the fence into buying this sucker? Is Venom any good?

I wish Marvel wouldn't incorporate some of the movie elements into this comic--like the "scar" on Bullseye's forehead (it looks stupid). I hope that's all that creeps in from the movie version. It looks like Bullseye is wearing his traditional costume, which is good, but that could only be on covers (he all know how deceptive Marvel can be with its covers!). I wonder if he dons the tights in the actual story?

Check out the first two issues of Gun Theory, then get annoyed that the last two never came out.

Carved Head...
Remember people, Daredevil actually CARVED a target on Bullseyes head in Daredevil #48 or #49 right before going after Kingpin in DD #50. It would be "in continuity" for him to have the target scar.
Whether you like the target scar or not is another matter...

About the carving, I'd say it's not way off character. I mean, we are talking about a guy who broke his teeth against his cell's wall in order to get a couple of projectiles and escape. That kind of nut would carve up his forehead and other bodyparts... umm, let's not get into that.

Kevin Smith's Bullseye
Hey, Does anyone know what happened to Kevin Smith's Bullseye miniseries after the first issue? For that matter does anyone know if he's ever going to finish the Spider-Man/Black Cat series? It's been almost two years since the last issue of SM/BC came out! And now I hear he's working on a new Green Hornet film! Shouldn't he finish his pior comitments before making new ones!?! I say we should boycott the Green Hornet and any other films he makes until he finishes the two comic series.

hey heres an idea.....
I have an idea for Marvel comics, how about you finish the Bullseye story you already have going, before releasing anothing that clearly has ties to the one thats been left unfinished. What the hell is going on here? Now we all know Mr. Hollywood, Kevin Smith, for some reason is allowed to shit all over the fans and Marvel, with no repercussions. He can just not finish work and nobody will bitch him out because they want him to do more comic work because it sells. Understandable i guess, but come on. I head one of the Kuberts was penciling the rest of that Target story, but i havent heard anything about it. Not to Mention the Black Cat story. Kevin Smith sucks. I wasted my money on that story, and got all excited for the new issue, and its just never coming out.
On another note. I will still buy this comic. Steve Dillon is great, even though I only think of Preacher every time i look at his art. is that Starr? Oh no, its Bullseye. my bad. Lets hope they dont make him able to flick a toothpick through a pane of heavy glass from a half a mile away. that was pretty damn lame. Anyone agree?

LIH (as of 2 weeks ago), Smith is no longer associated with the Green Hornet movie.
As far as the DD/BE and SM/BC minis, I think Marvel's pretty much written them off. I know I have. Smith said he was about to finish the scripts for SM/BC about 6 months back, so either A) he didn't actually finish them, or B) He turned them in and Marvel didn't bother interrupting Terry Dodson from his work on MKSM.
