ALAN MOORE'S BOJEFFRIES SAGA HEADLINES THE RETURN OF A1
Press Release
Alan Moore and Steve Parkhouse’s BoJeffries Saga toplines the Return of "A1"
Neil Gaiman picked up their first industry award, a Harvey – now A1, one of the most acclaimed and award-winning anthologies to ever hit the comic book market, is back with an impressive new roster of talent.
Gracing A1’s return to form is Alan Moore and Steve Parkhouse’s lost classic of supernormal suburbia, THE BoJEFFRIES SAGA. Featuring 17 pages of SAGA material, A1 BIG ISSUE ZERO features the first story arc in a newly reformatted 13 page version (unavailable anywhere else), for all those Moore completists, as well as Alan and Steve’s original 4 page prologue that introduced the clan to an unsuspecting world.
In addition to THE BoJEFFRIES SAGA, A1 also features the work of master storyteller Steve Dillon, perhaps best known for his runs on PREACHER and THE PUNISHER. For BIG ISSUE ZERO, Dillon will be scribing a brilliantly poignant tale of life and loss, as only he can tell it, KATHLEEN’S HOUSE.
Piling onto the list of top-line talent is Dave Gibbons and Ted McKeever. Two of the premiere writer-artists of the direct market, they’re teaming together for SURVIVOR - a fabulous mini-epic that’s been called a startling dissection of the demi-god hero genre, and often recognized as the best non-Superman, Superman story ever written.
“We’re quite excited about our starting line-up,” Atomekan Dave Elliott said. “We’re honored that Alan Moore, Steve Parkhouse, Dave Gibbons, Steve Dillon, and Ted McKeever joined us in the first book we’re putting out, right out of the gate.” Publisher Ross Richie said, “I keep expecting Dave and Garry to call and cop to pulling the wool over my eyes. Guys?”
A1 BIG ISSUE ZERO ships in July, 48 pages long with a $4.99 price point. It’s featured on page 231 of the current PREVIEWS catalog.

Seeing the solicitation for this in Previews was a very pleasant surprise. Anybody who hasn't read the old A1's, should actively seek them out. Excellent stuff from a who's-who of top creators.

Other than the new Bojeffries pages, I'm hoping there will be additional new material worth picking up for those of us who already have the original run of A1 and loved it.
Survivor was fantastic, but appeared in the first volume of the original A1 anthology, and Kathleen's House was from the fifth volume.
It would be great to see new short anthology work from creators that don't necessarily fit anywhere else. The original volumes had short indy features like a Miracleman tie in, Tank Girl, Deadface, Mr. X, Mr. Monster, Grendel, Flaming Carrot, and a stunning array of talent, including Dave Mckean, Brian Bolland, Bill Sienkiewicz, Neil Gaiman, Peter Milligan, Glenn Fabry, John Bolton, Bob Burden, Joe Kubert, Jeff Jones, Kelly Jones, Bruce Jones, Bill Stout, David Lloyd, Jamie Hewlett, Warren Ellis, Eddi Campbell, Garth Ennis, Moebius, Kevin O'Neil, James Robinson, Philip Bond, Grant Morrison, Barry Windsor Smith, and dozens more.
I'm sure much of this was reprinted from British mags that we never saw on this side of the pond.
A1 needs to come back with new material (at least for North Americans)!!

Yes it's good that the Bojefferies Saga is back but from what I saw in the previews Its not really a new story its a reprint of the trever enchmeal story not only that it was black and white the complete Bojefferies Saga was full color.
My copy is well warn it is probably my faverite book by Alan Moore
The story is like what would happen if Carl Barks had teamed up with Charles Adam and Ray Bradbery
Alan Moore said resently that he has some new stories for the Bojeffrie Family in modern time I hope he writes them

Tundra collected The BoJeffries Saga in its entirety. Well worth tracking it down - it's the third Alan Moore story from Warrior - the other two being Marvelman and V For Vendetta.
Holed Up owes a lot to Bojeffries.

The reference to all these creators "joining" the project would make sense if they were doing new work for the book, but most (if not all) of the book is reprints, right?

It's all new to me. Alan Moore has never disapointed me, so I'll ask my comic shop to order this one.
Haven't seen anything from the talented Steve Dillon in quite some time either, more good news.

Some company really needs to reprint the Bojeffries Saga in its entirety. The Tundra collection is hard to find.

Thanks for the good words and yes there will indeed be new stories amongst the old ones. Many people are not familiar with what we were doing at Atomeka with A1, so with the books long out of print we felt that not only should the stories be put back out, but the time is right to continue with what we did and grow a new wave of material built on the passion we all hold towards this medium.
Expect more Bojeffires soon and more new material.

The original volumes of A1 will not be reprinted as is. It has been a long time since the material saw print so we are going to reintroduce the material along with a lot of new material in a series of mini-series. Some of the material will not be reprinted and some will be redrawn. Some of the material will not actually have seen print before in A1 but by association with some characters will be relevant to it.
We will not just be printing A1, there are other projects we have in the cooker as well. Check back here for details as events develop....
