GHOSTBUSTERS #1

Sebastien Clavet of 88 MPH Studios has provided Newsarama with preview art for the upcoming Ghostbusters miniseries, beginning later this month.

Along with the first four pages of issue #1, we’ve also got Dan Brereton’s variant covers to issues #1 - #4, each featuring one of the original castmembers; as well as the exclusive covers produced for Toyzz and Graham Cracker’s Comics.

The miniseries is only part of a surge in Ghostbusters product hitting the market shortly – NECA is producing a line of toys based on the creatures from the films, while ERTL's Ecto-1 1:18 Die-Cast car is slated for release later this spring.

I can't wait for this miniseries. I know 88mph canceled Tron before it even hit stores so I was worried about Ghostbusters.

When is it actually going to be released?

Wow, I cannot wait for this miniseries. The whole 80's nostalgia thing got pretty tiring pretty quick, but this just looks great.

This book was going to be published. Tron was only cancelled b/c Disney wanted to be involved with every step of the production, so it was too onerous for a small company.

Anyone remember the show xtreme ghostBusters? I do and I thought it was pretty damn cool !! They should revive that after this mini series is over.

Probably not. The Ghostheads pretty much hated that show, and would riot in the streets if they tried to bring anything from that into the new series: Grife, there's some Movie Purists ticked off at what Real Ghostbusters influences, small as they are, made it in (ie the Ecto Containment Unit).

Personally, I liked it better than most of the RGB episodes after J. Micheal Straczynski was forced from the show, and do use them in some of my fan fictions, but I'm in a minority.

Anyway, to get back to the topic at hand ...

More cool looking stuff coming from 88MPH, and I dearly anticipate this comic. The delays have been aggravating, but I think we see more signs that it's going to be worth it.

Looks pretty good... I really loved the first movie, the first couple of seasons of the Real Ghostbusters and the WEG RPG... I too, was afraid that it would get TRON'D.

I was one of the few actually looking forward to Tron, especially since Tron 2 and Warriors of Tron seemed to have gotten deleted.

Hopefully this turns out good. The concept has some great potential!

Yeah, I was really looking forward to the Tron 2.0 book--I was actually even saving a spot for it in my monthly pull list--and was pissed off that Disney pulled the plug on it.

I was originally going to pass on Ghostbusters but only because I can fell out of interest with the property over the years--but dang, these preview pages look great and the dialogue seems to be in line with either the film or the original cartoon series...I don't think I can let this one pass me by...

I have decided to boycott this comic...

Until I purchase it the saturday of the week it's released

Basically, I don't want to spoilt that 'WOW!' moment when I open the comic for the very first time...even if that means not looking at the published pages, or the start of this topic until Legion#1 is safely placed on my desk. Hopefully it'll be out in time for the 24th, or before the end of March...which would be cutting it close . While it was mentioned that there would be a release date with this article, I can only hope that there will be a public announcement of the release date soon.

I wasn't too amped on this series when I first heard about it . . . I guess cause I was never impressed with the old series.

This article changed my mind though. Looks like it could be pretty good. I'll give the first issue or two a try and see from there . . .
