Now I just LOVE that Ultimate Galactus so far and knowing Ultimate can mean half way what if realistic, I'm pretty open to any thing as far an what the Ultimate Galactus could be; I got some Galactus in Silver Surfer movie ideas of my own, and those who seen them know how much farther deep in the exploration of this character can go (1 person 1 word back up)
The Ultimate Galactus Trilogy might end up being the greatest Ultimate moment of all, this really has movie potential if it were possible to get all those characters in a movie trilogy

I guess you'll never know whether it's impressive or not since you don't read the title.
I think it is sad that people waste their time writing about a topic they don't have an understanding of. I don't care for Ultimate Spider-Man and a few other ultimate titles. I do love some of them though. Even in the ones I really like there are always arcs that are not so good. But to base an opinion on the entire ultimate line of books from one comic, that doesn't sound to smart to me.
I think it is sad that someone would limit themselves and miss out on some really good material based on one bad book, but that's just me. I'll keep enjoying the books as long as they come out, which I think we can all see will be a long time. Oh, and I'll save my trash talking for the books I actually read and know something about.

For some reason, the Ultimate Galactus sketch makes me think of that They Might Be Giants song, "We Want a Rock" (to wind a piece of string around).

Actually, I think the prelim and the silhouette are the same thing. Look at the "bug" from above...it's shaped like Galactus' helmet. Pretty clever, I think.

So noone else is disturbed that so many of his responses involved possible movies?
I know that's where the money is, I know things have changed bigtime, but... if movies are going to be based on comics, wouldn't it be better for the movies to be based on GOOD comics rather than on comics that are watered down in order to be better suited to become action movies?
I get that they want a million Doc Ock trades in the bookstores when the Doc Ock Spider-Man movie comes out. No problem. I get that they want a million FF books out for the FF movie, I get that they want a series out for a movie. No big problem. Waters the franchise down as often as not, but I can deal. It's easy to ignore a comic you don't want to read. I certainly appreciate that they are desperately trying to grab the attention of the huge moviegoing public. Good for them, I hope it works out for them.
But really, the idea that pitches are being dismissed or ideas are being changed just because they MIGHT conflict with possible movies in the future (most of which will never even get made!) is a little on the reprehensible side. This is comics! You can do a hell of a lot more in comics than you can in movies. Take advantage of that!

Everything would work so much better if the Ultimate line was strictly used for movie franchises or adaptations.

Is it reasonable to say, then, that Newsarama cultivated the "Slashdot is here" nonsense?

NRAMA: Where does Ultimate Marvel Team-Up fall in regards to Ultimate canon? Some characters match exactly, some…not so much..?
JQ: Two answers, first ask Brian, secondly, really only time will tell.

From http://www.jinxworld.com/faq/BBFAQ-COMICS.html:
Quote:
ARE THE ULTIMATE MARVEL TEAM UP STORIES MEANT TO BE THE SAME CONTINUITY AS THE REST OF THE ULTIMATE TITLES?
Everything but issue 9 is continuity. But even nine isn't too far off from what we did.
|
But atm, the various Doctor Doom/Latverian Embassy stuff that appeared in several Team-Up issues, and the appearance of the FF in the Ultimate Spidey Super Special, don't fit with UFF. In the past I think Bendis or maybe someone else has said that it'd all be corrected in UFF down the line somewhere. Being a Brit and reading the books in HCs, I don't know whether this is what the current Crossover arc is yet, but there were rumours to that end before.

No, I imagine lots of sites have directed people to SlashDot in the past.
For example, the 'frist post' nonsense gets you banned at SomethingAwful.com

I don't know what I was expecting for Ultimate Galactus, and the preview cover got me even more confused.
I imagined:
*Something like the Marvel Mangaverse Galactus
*A being of pure energy
*Galan
EDIT: Wait a sec...is Ga Lak Tus a species....???

Hey guys, those are my prelims for the "Ultimate Galactus" project.
Those images are prelims, as in quick developmental ideas that may or may not be used. I am actually very surprised that those prelims were shown as they were a couple of ideas that were bashed out quickly by me early in the development process. They are rough ideas to visualize some specific things Joe, Warren, Ralph and I were talking about over e-mails.
I would say folks should wait until the book comes out before they make up their minds about it and to not judge the final product based on a couple of 20 minute prelims and a little heresay. I mean it's entertaining and all, but it's also a little silly.

I like using 616, it's more specific. The word "regular" can be used for anything, not just universes.
Sure I could say regular...but I am talking about comics...on a comic website message board...I mean surely posting here already makes me a hardcore comic geek? Is using 616 as opposed to regular really all that bad?
Different strokes I guess.

They could mean the 'regular' Marvel universe in the sense that all the characters poop on time and often...

This interview honestly made me really consider buying all the Ultimate trades and adding all the titles to my pull list. I'm not *that* interested in any of the writers (except Vaughan of course), but still... it's tempting.
