The series is drawn and co-plotted by Kevin Lau, scripted by Jay Faerber, co-plotted by Udon's Erik Ko with studiomate Omar Dogan on backgrounds and colors.

As Harris escribes the issue: “After destroying the Light of Truth, Xin is called to task by none other than the Goddess herself. She challenges Xin to a seemingly simple task. His failure leads him to face the five faires representing five elements -- Water, Fire, Wood, Earth and Gold. From there, Xin only gets deeper into trouble.”

Well, if you get grief, remind them of the FANTASTIC series "Dragon Lines" by Ron Lim. THAT was Monkey King at its finest!

Or, you could gently point them in the direction of a little Akira Toriyama property known as "Dragonball".... =)

Exactly so. I'm fairly familiar with the Monkey King stories, and I'm afraid XIN doesn't remind me of them at all. What's your comic called? I've seen at least two others (one online, that I thought was the best of the lot).

I haven't named it yet but I the title to have the word journey in it somewhere. it takes place in modern time. it's not a retelling, in mines the original happened, this story continues it into today.
