Verily, I speak the truth.
And if you're wondering what #2 and #3 are, they are Ex Machina and DMZ, respectively.
Seriously though, how much ass does Local kick?

There's some nice info on the book. As for selling it, I don't know how. The book started out really solid, but the last 3 issues have been amazing. 7 issues are out now, 5 more to go. Give it a shot.

Maybe not the greatest, but it is really, really, really, really good.

Have to agree. The greatest book being published right now.

I think Wood's overrated.
Don't get me wrong, the man can write. And he has wonderful taste in music too. But Local, Supermarket and DMZ have all left me underwhelmed. They're OK, but nothing more than that.

The only good series I've liked from him was DEMO. I was simply dream, especially with Cloonan on art chores. I wouldn't have picked it up if I didn't Morning Glory's symbol on the cover of #1. I'm glad I did.
Everything else he's done has been pretty blaise.

Brian Wood's like every other creator: hit-or-miss. Local, The Tourist, and some issues of Demo are amazing; Channel Zero, DMZ, and The Couriers are above-average; Supermarket and Fight For Tomorrow are bleah. While I think the man is an excellent comics creator, I would never call him my be-all and end-all. You just have to find what you like, I guess.

That's crazy talk. For me, Local is everything a comic should be. Very real to life, heart felt, great sense of conflict and pacing, and chacter change. It really is literature. I know there's a lot of indie/undergound comics out there that are probably just as good but you just don't hear about them. I can't wait for this to be collected so I can give it to all my friends and family.

Local is great. DMZ is great. I enjoyed Demo and The Tourist. I haven't read Channel Zero and bits and pieces of The Couriers...Quite the Brian Wood fan...

I consider Local and DMZ to be some of the best comics being written. I go back and forth on which one I like more. Local seems to be more consistent, but a couple of the DMZ issues have been superb.
I enjoyed Supermarket quite a bit more the second time around. I was expecting a different ending that what Wood gave us, and was a little disappointed. When I reread it, I didn't have that expectation, and enjoyed it a little bit more.

It's odd that, though I buy more DCU titles than anything else, I always enjoy the Wildstorm, Vertigo, or Indie books I buy the most.
I wish there were more options to buy book similar to Local and Ex Machina.

I enjoy all of Wood's books - he's a great writer. However, I met him at a con last summer and man, what a nancy boy. He's like the sensitive, introverted, intellectual ponytail man - only he's bald. The guy has absolutely no social skills at all. But he writes a damn fine funny book, so there you go.

Local is great though I liked DEMO better. Does Scott Pilgrim count as a "comic being published?" If so I have to say that gets my No. 1, with "Fell" a close second. Local would be top ten, maybe top five. At least as far as stuff I read and enjoy. Desolation Jones, Jack of Fables, Fables, Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina, 100 Bullets, Powers and Girls rounding out. No particular order after No. 2.

LOCAL is indeed fantastic, but since it ships kinda inconsistently I took it off my top releases list. There's too many books that are almost or just as good and keep a monthly or 10 issue a year schedule like DMZ, Ex Machina, Walking Dead, Criminal, etc. Still though, I'm goddamn jonesing for the next issue to come out.
